If it comes down to the choice of a better photo or sharing directly from the camera, I'm always going to go with the better photos, unfortunately.

Agree. Better photos is much much better option than sharing photos for me.
Unless you are in the kind of work where you need to instantly share your photos, the last thing we want is more annoying instant photos posted on FaceBook. As if instant boring messages posted by some friends is not enough to annoy us already :(

would have thought Apple would want to conquer this part of the market with their intuitive IOS software

almost got a plus 1 for me, but the whole idea of a DSLR is that it is a camera in its purest form…no add ons etc… i like the idea because of the ability to easily share your photos easily specially via 3g etc…
but then your adding a whole lot of crap to a camera that doesnt need it…
I think thats why other people negged you atleast.

Id rather buy a decent entry level DSLR for a $100 more

just wish this thing had voice on it… would make a great spare to take with you when your out and about.
also great for the wife that wants to take more of a camera and less of a phone with her.
ohh well, im sure someone wll do a proper one soon… thats the problem with the galaxy camera, it doesnt know if its a camera or a phone.

Samsung released the code so ,if you don't mind using custom roms, you will almost certainly be able to get one that allows voice calls pretty soon.

Nice, these were supposed to be $550 when they hit our shores, well Kogan probably imports them don't they.
It appears these aren't up to the standard of the advanced point and shoot but it's a step in the right direction.
Snippet from the following review

Image quality isn’t bad for the camera, though it certainly doesn’t compete with advanced point and shoots, even though the Galaxy Camera has features one could say are “advanced,” even if they’re not advanced in areas like low-light or RAW support.
Close-ups and macro images are surprisingly detailed, with very sharp images that could be usable to nature photographers and food bloggers, allowing you to get up close and personal with the nitty gritty details.
Regular shots are sharp enough upon first glance, but once you get close to any of these, you see the sensor create a slightly blurry recreation of what you were photographing, similar to what we see from low-end shooters and smartphone cameras.
