Asus S56CM-XX013H Ultrabook Harvey Norman Clearance $837 + $6.95 Shipping

80

My first post - I found this on HN, looks like a good deal for a high end ultrabook. Could do with 8GB RAM but that's a cheap and easy upgrade. The screen resolution lets it down though, but that seems to be the norm at the moment. Its actually cheaper than the lower core i5 model which is wierd.

Review looks good overall: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-S56CM-Ultrabook.840…

Quick Specs:
Intel Core i7-3517U (1.9-3.0 GHz)
4GB 1600MHz RAM
Hybrid HDD (750GB 5400rpm HDD + 24GB SSD Cache drive)
GeForce GT 635M 2GB Graphics
15.6" 16:9 HD (1366x768) LED Backlit
USB 3.0
and it comes with a DVD drive which is rare for an ultrabook.
Windows 8

Let us know if there's any better ultrabook deals out there :)

First time poster forgets to beg for mercy but dares to post a HN computer deal. Riczter obviously is not a professional :-)

Its meant to be $838 not $837!! LOL
Its another price error or what HN normally says "YOU OFFER" blah blah blah.. And they cancel order!!

Sorry, but my experience with Penta is awful. They simply bait you with a cheap price and offer a substitute in store.

  • Asus were on a good thing with the IcePower bang olufsen speakers… Now it's back to the sonic master crap. Keeping an eye out for a a cheap i7 Zenbook deal..

    Ended up getting this notebook..

I think for the price you can't go wrong, it had 1299 as the rrp on the bar code which is what the sales person was going to charge me, I told him it was 837 on the website, he couldn't believe that it was cheaper than the i5 model and that you could get a 3rd gen i7 with win 8 for that price.

The device a a lot bigger than I expected though, still feels decent. Too bad about the screen res but itll do

    • scotty wants your ozbargain badge returned ASAP lol
