Ive had some great experiences with them! Some may have had bad experiences, but my warranty was honoured quite quickly.

    • +2

Please elaborate? I've never had any issues..

Horror stories!!!!?????? Try megabuy it's like Hellraiser!

Good deal! If anything goes wrong u deal with apple anyway…

If anything goes wrong u deal with apple anyway…

Not necessarily true; last I heard, it was Kogan warranty. (Link)

  • +4

Yup. Hong Kong iPhones must be returned to Hong Kong Apple for warranty or out of warranty matters.

I presume that Kogan AU returns them to Kogan HK (which is the company from which one purchases them) and Kogan HK returns them to Apple HK.

i thought it was always this price? haha~

Just a warning if you buy a grey import iphone/ipad

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

  • If you want Australian stock for a bit cheaper than Apple's price, mobileciti has it for $775 + $13.80 shipping (for metropolitan Adelaide at least). Works out $10.20 cheaper than Apple ;)

    • +4

DSE and BigW sell it for $788… Why bother from mobileciti?

      • +2

Not that price matches are very reliable a bargin I told JB that BigW had it 788 and they went down to 760, guy seemed to want to sell though

JB opposite Highpoint, the outside one

  • +3

Not $100 cheaper only 80 cheaper as apple don't charge shipping. You are just getting a $20 discount in real terms as the phone has no gst
    Still discounted though.

    • +4

Agreed and if you can claim the GST, no point getting this deal, better to buy it from Big W or Apple so you get local warranty.

    • So does Kogan provide a Hong Kong invoice with no GST added? Checkout page says "All prices include GST where applicable".

      • i think gst are only include in kogan branded stuff like tv and so on. i know for sure that apple stuff sell by kogan doesnot include gst

I ordered an iPhone 5 from kogan pre launch and they delayed delayed delayed until I cancelled it. People on whirlpool only started receiving their iPhones a week ago. Yep like 4 months after they were the "first to sell"

I will never buy from kogan ever, in my eyes they are crooks

It is cheaper if you buy from US Apple store and set up a shipping forwarded like Shipito or similar.

In US, this is US$650. Shipping probably around $30-40 USD. So that's about USD70 cheaper.

    • +1

But no warranty. Of rather buy a near new one with local warranty

      • There is a warranty, but you need to pay shipping back to US.

But how often is your Apple, Sony, or very famous electronic brand get broken?

        • I bought from Kogan before, and the phone was broken, the warranty service takes 3 weeks.

But free shipping, and constant email, so overall it's good.

    • +1

But the version doesn't work with LTE here?

      • HK version is exact to Oz http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/
but I would value local warranty to price.

        • Except ozhunter wasn't talking about the Hong Kong version, he was replying to this:

It is cheaper if you buy from US Apple store and set up a shipping forwarded like Shipito or similar.

      • -1

Yes the US version iphone 5 won't work on a 4G network here due to 4G operating on a different band. The HK version is the same as Aus except obviously the electrical plug is different and you need to use an adaptor!

Honestly for a such high-priced item, I wouldn't bother ordering from Kogan but rather get it from a local Australian store.

        • -1

Ah ic, good to know, thanks!

        • -1

INCORRECT… the verizon iphone 5 works on our LTE.. get your facts straight

        • -2

The Verizon model is CDMA and we have GSM here. See http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/

        • +1

Sigh… the Verizon model is both CDMA and GSM unlocked from the apple store.

For some reason its not documented as both on the apple website.

I should know.. i bought one and I am using it here in Australia.

          Do a google seach.

          Saved you the time: http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/24/3383540/verizon-says-iphon…

  • I've had two attempted transactions with Kogan, both massive FAILS. Will never deal with them again.

  • Only two? You give up too easily for a bargain mate.

  • Good deal, I got mine for 720 on eBay new :p Only save 80 but still something.

  • if any one keen on a 64 GB white IPhone 5 - i am selling mine for 750.
Brand new unlocked to any network and Australian stock (bought from Optus)

    Pick up Melbourne CBD.

    • They go for 850-920 brand new (64gb) on eBay (aus) lol. I already have one but just saying you could sell it for more :)

  • Thought should share that JB Hifi offers finance on iPhones as well, picked one for $788 with interest free payments over 6 months.

  • I would be careful buying Iphones from Kogan. I was one of the lot who 'preordered' from Kogan because they said they had the first and cheapest iphone 5s.

On the date they were supposed to ship (apple release date), Kogan emailed and said the order was delayed for unforseen reasons (no stock). After waiting a month, I ended up cancelling my order and getting one directly from Apple. There were plenty of people who had the exact same story as me on Whirlpool, who still didn't get their Iphones up to 2 months after. I gave up checking the thread after that.

I know people have had positive experiences with Kogan in regards to other products, but I would NEVER deal with them again. Seems like Kogan will do anything to get free publicity and your money with total disregard to business ethics or integrity.

edit: the deal above was the same price I was offered. I would gladly pay an extra 80 dollars and deal with Apple!

    • When you buy something on the release date.. that's always likely isn't it? I got an iPhone 5 from Kogan last week, it took 6 business days from order date to get to me. I'll take the $80 thanks.

      • When you preorder an item and pay upfront you expect to receive it on the release date, because that was what was promised. Nobody who initially PREordered a week before release to receive their iphone 5's got them for at least a month. They waited longer than people randomly walking into Apple stores did.

The 'deal' was basically a trap - pay 718 upfront to save 80 dollars and wait 2 months longer than everyone else to get your phone.

Had Kogan been honest with not having stock for the release I would have immediately gone to apple - staying on my phone contract easily wasted an extra 80 dollars in the meantime.

On the other hand, the risk is yours to take. 6 business days to get to you isn't too bad - perhaps they've fixed up their stock issues. I personally will just steer clear, knowing what they are capable of now.

        • Exactly, and to be honest. There really shouldn't be any incentive to buy iPhones from Kogan or any grey imports because of warranty issues.

To save 80 or so bucks is a pain to deal with later on.

        • This is ozbargain, not 'imwillingtopayretail.com.au'

Get the hell out of my sight ffs

        • When it's an Apple (or typical fanboy product), it's always going to be an issue if buying on or close to the release date.

        • .

        • +1

          I genuinely Lol'd.
