  • Can this run well on Eneloop AAA's?

    • No, they don't fit

  • What's the deal with the 18650 Li-ion Batteries replacing normal rechargeables. Are they rechargeable using same chargers or we need special chargers.

    • You will need a Li-ion charger and not the common Nimh that was commonly available.

    • No, Li-ion's need a different charger. Power output from Li-ion batteries is much higher than traditional rechargebles (~3.6V vs 1.2V)

  • Call me paranoid, but all those photos, and not one of the emitter.
Is it really a Cree XM-L? Got a photo?

    What's the deal with the 18650 Li-ion

The same reasons Li-ion is used in phones, laptops and cameras. In addition, the voltage is a good match for white LEDs. You can use a very simple regulator and a single li-ion cell. Though a proper DC converter is best.

    • Hi Manic. I just saw this one down the bottom of the page: http://www.dailyshop.com/ProductImages/ProductID-422586-name… I don't know what to look for but is that good enough to determine if it's a Cree XM-L? Kinda doesn't look right to me but I honestly can't tell.

      • That photo definitely shows a Cree XM-L LED :)

      • Thanks. It looks like a cree at least. If it were the same quality as the pics above on the linked page, it would be more certain its an XML emitter, and 't6' isn't just the model name of the torch.

The problem is that the retailers often don't really know the difference themselves, and don't ask too many questions of the supplier.

  • Hi guys:)

I'm not so specialty in battery area.

But now I'm contacting the factory about your questions :)) but it may wait a while.
And I also googled an article about the 3XAAA and 18650.
    Maybe this can help?

Great bargain jenniferds. Its really cheap. A note to buyers is that torches like these heats up fairly quickly. 10 minutes to WARM (uncomfortable) and 20 minutes to burning HOT. I have something similar to this torch.

  • you could always get the tomtop cree T6 for pretty much same price….fits both 3xAAA and 18650. problem is when u focus the beam u get the ugly square from the cree led

  • +1

    Good torch. Good price.

  • is the site down? i get a 2x1 gif pixel

    • Nope :)) please try again :)

  • It is not likely the torch does 1000 lumens. I have added a data sheet to the description of the deal for you guys to look at. The cree emitter is rated at 260 lumens, which is much lower than what the manufacturer suggests.

    • According to the datasheet an XML T6 LED does 280 when driven at 700mA. Given the max runtime of this torch is 1 hour, i'm guessing the LED will be driven at a current closer to 2A which is 690 lm. Still much lower than the 1000 manufacturer rated lumen output though

  • I'm looking for a new light for my road bike. Is this suitable?

    • +1

Not really, it is a direct point light and extremely bright, quite likely to dazzle other road users

      • Is there a limit as to how bright bike torches can be? I use a Cree Q5 light, only rated at 120 lumens but still isn't bright enough to see 5 meters or so in front of me.

Thinking I should upgrade to 200 lumens or higher.

  • Not a great bargain
Can do better on buyincoins or merimobiles or even probly Dx.com or tmart
Just ordered similar units with zoom, 2x18650s, car and wall chargers for $18 from meri

    • +1

Probably can do better, and it deserves a neg? Similar isn't the same. Links?

      • not probably can, definitely can
there is one of the kits http://www.merimobiles.com/1600lm-cree-t6-led-adjustable-foc…
        some bic ones
        http://www.buyincoins.com/new_en/details/cree-adjustable-foc…

but not just the price - it is a clear ad, in au from a foreign seller and doesnt give real (remotely posssible) specs etc (as mentioned).
so, BIC kill em on price, meri are similar with 6m wty, and neither is doin forum ads here with fake specs pretending to be an uber bargain.
also - should be able to get 10-15% off on BIC with no trouble
and trustfire, ultrafire and unique fire are one company, along with many others

        • Still don't understand, you post links to generic plastic or over specced lights.

Anyway, I revoked my pos because it was $13 last month. Inflated price for this deal.

        • none of them are plstic - they are the same (or higher) quality and function as the deal, but they are either cheaper or with 6m wty
none of them are advertising in australia so they dont need to comply by our law
          to make it clearer

this is a ad, not a user posting
          it isnt a great deal
it has false specs in an ad in au, which is illegal
it is a generic unit just like the others which are cheaper
the op had to have known it wasnt a great deal, that is their business

          clear yet?
