iPhones have never been included in these deals before, are you sure it's available in this one?

Also if your not bothered by not having 4g you could use Kogan and buy a phone outright cheaper.

http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/samsung-galaxy-s3-4g-i9305-blackā€¦ (I do know that this is a 4g phone without a 4g network but I thought changing phones would make an unfair comparison.).

    $579 for phone
$299 x 2 for 24 months Kogan Mobile (Unlimited calls, text, SMS and 6gb Internet a month)

    Total - $1177

    Telstra option - $1584

But with the Telstra option you can risk going over on your call allowance or Internet. I don't believe 4g warrants an extra $407 and less data.

    • If you are going down this road I suggest paying $379 for a Nexus 4, rather than a $579 Galaxy 3. Resulting in another $200 saving

I wouldn't recommend the phone I was just using it for the closest comparison.

    • You don't get the full speed with Kogan. Maxed at 7.2Mbps

I'd rather pay extra $20 a month for the extra speed

      • Boost do not limit your speed and charge $40 per month

My issue with Telstra's big and amazing 4g is their data allowance.
What's the point of downloading at 20mbits/s (2.5mb per second) if you only have 1gb for a month?

I'd much prefer a slower (but very acceptable 7mbits/s (0.875mb per second) with 6gb any time.

I am on Kogan by the way and I download between 2.9mbits/s at peak times and 5.2mbits non peak (.360mb per second and .650mb per second respectively).

        • I would like to be on Kogan but my port has been pending for 2 weeks

    • Back when the iPhone 4 was released it was included in this deal. I remember because I got a $200 voucher for getting a 16GB iPhone 4 on the $79 plan.

But you are right, from the email I got from JB as well it didn't mention the iPhone 4 at all.

  • only 3 phones in the picture, but you list more ??

  • It states "any of these phones" so I'm assuming it's only for the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 920.

  • Existing customers can get this.

Solution: churn out to prepaid with a $2 sim(assuming you are off contract), churn back to Telstra for the $200 gift card. takes a few days but for $200 its worth it imo.

Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.
Port from Telstra to $2 Virgin sim at 9am. Easily done by 10, then go to JB and buy phone. Port back should be done within 2 hours

  • Most phones plans also come with 12 month free premium JB Hi-Fi NOW access.

  • Is the phone Lock with Telstra?if so, Does anyone know how much for unlocking?

    • It's really easy to get a phone unlocked.

      1. Call your carrier.
      2. Wait forever to talk to an operator.
      3. Tell the operator that you are planning on traveling overseas and would like your phone unlocked.
      4. Wait a couple of seconds for the operator to approve.
      5. Follow the operators instructions (generally along the lines of when your receive a text/after a certain amount of time, turn your phone off and on. And/Or sync your phone.

These phones aren't pre paid and so you are buying the handset off the carrier and they are generally very helpful.
I've even told them that I plan on selling the phone and using a different handset and they've unlocked those too.
