  • Not bad, thanks.

"Please write a good story about us" discount. Nice.

  • $4041 for 2 people in the end march to Singapore and back to Melbourne is not a good deal, that is including the discounted promo

    • what is said above is true, just checked the fare for three ppl from melb to singapore return with the 15% off and it's $4603 incl. taex, so that's 1534 pp. not really that cheap at all.

however, for an extra $513 you can fly the same three people to LONDON and back (total cost $5134 return incl taxes and 15% off; $1711 pp).

of course i'm comparing different travelling seasons, but if going to london is only an extra $177 per person…

  • I have Qantas frequent flyer points. Since Emirates is now a partner airline, will this be redeemable on top of the discount?

    • No. Ticket prices and loyalty programs are completely different things.

      • Not necessarily. Qantas has a Points+Pay option where you can redeem some of your points to reduce the monetary value that you have to pay.

        • Stand corrected. it seems possible with some airlines.

        • Yes but you can't use your Qantas points with another airline purchase as per the question. To use points and pay you're not going to get a discount on an Emirates ticket.

    • No.
If you want to use your QFF points you'll need to book through QF and not EK.
And the tie up isn't complete yet, in terms of usable info about routing is very limited and any info on frequent flyer benefits is practically zero.

Perth to Christchurch return business class 24,295.84 Bargain!

    • What's the routing?

      • +13

Dubai with 2 stops each way, seems logical.

        • +4

          very logical indeed.

        • +1

          Haha.

        • +2

Great way to reduce your carbon footprint.

  • If this works for promo/sale fares, it'll be very nice indeed!

  • +1

Yea just sussed the routing to get to LA, it's via dubai and will take 30 hours. F that!

    • Might have to do with the fact that EK don't fly to LA from Aus?…

  • how'd you come across the code? media partner?

    • +3

A friend with a big mouth in the industry!

      • haha, great news for us! thanks mate.

        • +3

Won't they just change the code when they realize a LOT of non-media people are suddenly getting cheap tickets?

      • +1

Looks like it's been around since at least November. Scroll down the page…

        • Yes but not the password.

        • +3

man that password is so hard to crack. :p

        • It's taken 3 months for it to be done.

    • +19

Eughh, We don't like people like you around here. Just enjoy the deal.

      • +2

Haha, aw come on, everyone likes a grammar nazi!

  • +1

SYD-xDXB-CDG around $1850 leaving late June and returning late July is pretty good.

    • really? i went with china southern last year to paris and paid around $1300, left early june, back early july. booked the flight about 4 months before flying, but stopover was in china

      • +1

China Southern and Emirates don't really compare though… How were China Southern by the way? I've heard bad things.

        • I flew with them from BNE to AKL, BNE was a stopover on the way from China to AKL, and it was fine, no issues. Nothing amazing though.

        • Are you sure it was China Southern? As far as I know they have never flown BNE to AKL. China Airlines do fly BNE to AKL, but they are a different airline altogether.

        • CZ (China Southern - based in Guangzhou) flies to BNE and AKL, and have done for quite some time now…

China Airlines (Based in Taiwan) fly to both as well.

        • Well that is news to me. Sorry maybe I was wrong. Do you happen to know the flight number of that CZ flight?

When you try to book a flight from BNE to AKL on China Southern it comes back with nothing. The Brisbane airport website only lists China Southern flights to Guangzhou or Beijing, nothing to AKL.

The Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics in their monthly International Airline Activity reports only list flights of China Southern to China.

      • That's the thing prices spike after mid June. If you go early June prices are still pretty low, around $1500 for the big quality airlines.

        • quality? hmm my 9 hours flight with emirates i only got 1 meal, fly with sq i got two meals + fast response. my last trip with emirates all the flight always full and their 777 plane, the seat smaller than sq 777.

    • Price is ok.

I'm flying with Qantas (codeshare with Emriates) MEL to LHR via DXB return for $1,050 per person.

Depart late May, return late June.

Friend booked MEL to Amsterdam return for around the same price as well. July to August dates from memory

  • Where and how do i use the code to see the discounts ? Sorry if I am asking an obvious question.

    • When you search for flight it will have option to add promo code then it will redirect you to add the password and then you'll have your remodified search results

  • +2

    Perth-NYC for $1500. Crazy good.

    • What dates are those?

    • Yeah what dates?!!

      • Departing late May

  • Just checked out a flight that I am considering for later in the year. Still more expensive than than the same flights on expedia.ie

    • Comparing airlines?

  • $3239.16 for 2 to London return in October, not bad, cheaper deals out there, but Emirates looks fantastic, and a decent stopover in Dubai.

  • Thanks a lot, saved me $248, yay.
    Mel-Amman-Mel for $1654 , I am smiling.

  • damn it. I just bought the Emirates ticket yesterday $1500.
Can I claim this 15% off?

    • Not unless you cancel your original ticket.

  • any idea of the expiry date?

    • +2

This has been around for a while (a year and a half, if I can remember correctly), since it's been leaked onto OZB - I would give it 2 days before the pw gets changed…

      • +1

Agreed. I would run and book, before the password is changed.

However Emirates can still cancel bookings that are using the code without any identification that you work in the media, and or when you got to checkin and you can't provide any id that you work in the Media industry (or the Media partners that have access to this promo) you may have to pay the full fare to travel.

        • +2

Never once been asked to provide any ID before with Emirates, and I've used numerous codes from various organisations over the past 10 years.

I guess you could be that one in a million that they check, but you would have had to have run over several black cats, and walked under a few hundred ladders.

        • Good to read.

        • Here's a sidenote, the discount promo fare doesn't actually show up on your e-ticket or boarding pass - it's only your booking class and code, so the agent won't even know you used a coupon code.

  • Many thanks, Op! Just made a booking. Have been waiting for a good deal. Good timing!!

  • Very good, thanks!

  • is emirate usually more expensive than say qantas or cathay? want to book a flight to la next feb. should i wait?

    • I guess you could put it this way, Emirates are the exact opposite of a Jetstar or a Scoot, and as mentioned, rated higher than QF.

    • emirates is a 5 star airline and qantas got downgraded to a 4 star one

      • +15

        Emirates isn't a Skytrax 5-star airline: http://www.airlinequality.com/StarRanking/5star.htm
Both Emirates and Qantas are 4-star airlines: http://www.airlinequality.com/StarRanking/4star.htm

I've always found Emirates a bit ordinary in the service department, to be honest. (On a recent business class flight I took with them the flight attendants basically hid from the cabin, gossiping in the galley for most of the flight! Two of my requests for a drink were completely ignored, and I had to go to the galley myself.) Qantas is very hit and miss service wise (can be excellent, can be absolutely terrible). Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and Asiana are of a consistently high standard, though (all 5-star rated by Skytrax too). YMMV, just the opinions of this frequent flyer. :)

        • +3

Thanks for the negs. (A bit petty, don't you think?) Just stating my own opinion based on my own experiences. Feel free to disagree, though. :)

        • -2

i love it when people complain about being negged once..lol

        • i agree, i have to wait for 20 minutes for someone come to my seat. small seat (compare than sq similar 777 plane). and no drink menu, when i order some alcoholic drink they give me 150 ml drink, dunno what to say, should i call them every 15 minutes :)

        • From someone who did 200k tier miles with EK last year mainly in J, I have to report that their service has never been short of my expectations - from the lounge dragons, to the FA (all classes) - all top notch.

IMHO, for the best economy expirence, I have to say that Etihad out performs all the major airlines.

        • +1

Good write up electonictomato, i find this pretty spot on with what i've experienced, i don't understand why qantas is bagged out so much, they are hit and miss, but there are a lot worse airlines than them.

          +ve from me

  • Always use Emirates. Favorite airline

  • Sorry for my ignorance, but where do I enter this code?

    • When you search for a booking, there will be a PROMO code box where you add it to

  • Thanks OP!

My wife was looking for a business class trip from MEL to LHR and it would have cost AU$7,131 but now only $6,171.

Does anyone know how long this deal will last for?

    Regards
    Daniel

    • +1

Book asap because chances are the password gets changed..

  • Thank you, great deal saved me extra 5% from my normal 10% off coupon :)

    • +1

Whats the 10% off coupon ?

      • One of the Symphony coupons that have been posted here before or an email one for Skyward members?

  • +2

why don't it give me the option for an infant when i try to use the promo code. any help will be appreciated.

    • Hmmm. I'm curious about this too.

I wonder if you could just book for two adults, and then call them to add an infant - since they won't need another seat and most airlines don't charge.

Anyone able to shed any light?

    • Contrary to popular belief… Journalists and reporters whom are employed by the Oz media are not infants… :P

    • Edit:You edited your post,my comment is no longer relevant.

      • -3

? I just edited out the part where I said it would be illegal in Australia. Mostly it's the same comment.

        • +1

The way it read to me initially was they had to wear something tight fitting, low cut etc and i replied with something like 'that's terrible!…….*goes and books flights with Emirates' so you see?

        • +2

They only wear that when boarding and disembarking. During flight they are normal

    • +8

It's funny how you bring this up… take this from someone who does 45 EK sectors last year - I am glad we don't have people like you onboard to deal with, you would be quite an embarrassing representation of mankind.

"The way they make their female flight attendants dress is sexist" - this is the funniest line I have ever heard, and until all airlines create unisex uniform for every FA, I don't think you'll ever be flying anywhere.

Would you prefer the male flight attendents to wear those "stupid things" and pencil skirts also, would this perhaps then, "rock your world"?

I normally don't "feed the trolls" but your ignorance is quite disgraceful for someone who feels the need to comment on why one would refuse to fly with a particular airline.

Please for the sake of your integrity, think before commenting next time.

      • -6

Get a clue dan. Making females cover their heads and males not, is sexist, any way you look at it. As for females wearing skirts and men trousers, that is not sexist, because it is simply different, but equal. Sexism is when one sex is treated inferior to the other.

    • +3

      Sexist? You sir, are racist..

Kudos to 'sexist' Emirates for employing female staff in all sectors of their business including management. Doesn't sound very sexist to me..

Multiculturalism must really piss you off.

      • -3

Oh yes, kudos to Emirates for employing females in 2013…

    • +1

Considering this is a Gulf airline…it makes sense that their culture is reflected in their dress. Just take a look at Singapore, Malaysia or Thai Airlines…

      • -4

The culture of the employee should be respected. If an employee works for the airline but is of western background, it makes no sense to cover up like a muslim. I bet they don't hire Jews on their airlines either.

        • +1

Should a company's rules not be respected? Is there a law that makes their uniform illegal?

If they aren't offended, why should you be? They obviously knew what the company uniform was before they signed up.

        • +3

it makes no sense to cover up like a muslim

          please just stop…

  • Is anyone able to get it to work with a multicity flight?

I'm trying to check Melb -> London with a stopover in KL. I'd like to stay a few nights in KL.

Can you do this by just booking the Melb -> London return flight or is multi-city required?

    • Yes I used it for multi-city

      Syd-Lon
      Paris-Dubai
      Dubai-Syd

  • +3

I am looking to purchase tickets to London and using this code… I'm just worried that they'll see so many people using these codes…

What are the chances of them refusing the tickets booked???

    HELP & ADVICE PLEASE!! :)

    • +2

To be honest, I dont think they can refuse you after tickets have been confirmed. Furthermore, i doubt they are losing any money on the flights…

      • +1

Yeah that is true. Thanks very much @Snoref for your input

        • +1

If anything, they might change the password if they think that the account has been breached.

        • Or just enjoy the extra sales coming through that would otherwise likely goto other airlines.
