As per usual, these cameras can be bought grey for a lot cheaper :(

Wish Australian pricing was more competitive!

Well, buy local if you want warranty otherwise go grey and hope for the best.

      • That's not entirely accurate, there are quite a few grey importers who will do warranty.

        • I'm not saying go grey, but you need to bear in mind, local Aussie warranty is usually only 12 months and cameras normally don't breakdown within 12 months, unless you get a lemon.

Most online etailers will offer 1 year RTB warranty. And you can also buy MACK warranty on top like local stock to extend your warranty. Only reason to buy local is if you absolutely cannot wait for it to be delivered. The amount of money I've saved over the years buying grey, I can literally buy another camera and have change left over.

I think this makes it almost as cheap as grey import if you take out GST (eg. take a trip overseas).

Eg. Body only with EF mount is around $799 in most shops. You can usually negotiate down to around $750 easily (I've negotiated down to $725 at Teds). You can claim the GST on $750 (invoice amount) at TRS, bringing the total down to around $682. Less $150 cashback equals $532.

Most eBay sellers I've seen tend to sell the body only package for between $500 to $600, not including shipping. So factoring that in, you'd get pretty much a very competitive price, PLUS local warranty.

I'm going to +'ve this, and will pop down to my local Teds to grab one for myself.

    • Just picked one up today. Paid $725, so after GST refund and cashback, it costed me only $509.09!
