Sony Bravia KDL55HX750 55″ $1299.99 Costco Australia (Membership Required)

580

A new Costco discount book has been released with the sale starting Monday 18th Feb 2013. One item in that book is the Sony Bravia HX750 55” LED 200Hz Full HD 3D TV with built-in WiFi. Costco are taking $170 off their already low price of $1469.99 making the final price $1299.99.

A quick look around has JB Hi-Fi listing this TV at $1698, Harvey Norman at $1697 and Good Guys at $$1698. Good luck haggling those guys down to Costco's price. Also don't forget Costco essentially gives you an extended warranty with their satisfaction guarentee so long as you keep your membership continuous.

For more of the unlisted prices from the new Costco Discount book, check out Loaded Trolley. http://loadedtrolley.com.au/costco-australia-february-2013-c…

Good price but I don't have a Costo Membership, nor do I have a vehicle to transport such a big bulky box. For others in the same situation $1398 delivered would be the next best option http://www.bigbrownbox.com.au/sony-bravia-kdl55hx750-55-inch…

    • Picked this TV up over Xmas via the http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89075 deal for $1191 with the $300 off cashback card when spending an additional $100 on a Sony product. I managed to get JB HIFI to price match the $1390 price. Only posting to say this TV has been cheaper in the past with other deals, but I can recommend the TV to any potential buyers, looks brilliant for all usage types and putting the TV into game mode I can't detect any input lag.

  • Anyone knows the LG model and price on sale? $200 off seems better saving. Thanks

  • How much is the membership? Plus how does Costco factor in the ext warranty?

    • +1

I believe membership is $60, but you can get 100% of you membership money back anytime during the 12 months.

Others have mentioned warranties last as long as you maintain a membership. I don't know details of this, but my thought it was part their 100% happy claim. Ie. if you are unhappy with the product they will give you a refund.

Others can probably provide better info.

    • +4

$60 for household members or $55 for business members. All you need is an ABN for a business membership. Both come with an extra card for another member of your household to use.

The extended warranty is actually a more so a satisfaction guarentee. Costco guarentees every product they sell will meet your expectations for its life. So long as you keep your membership continuous and up to date you can an item back that you bought. So if your TV dies before the life you expect to get out of it, you can take it back. They have changed this policy in the USA on electrical goods because of people using the system to their advantage, but it is still accepted here.

      • Cheers Inlina. Better explanation than my poor attempt.

        • NP Deal88 ;)

  • Oh thanks for that doesn't sound too shabby at all!

    • Ivalice - when Costco first opened in Melbourne I did not use my membership as much as I hoped. Asked for my membership money back after 10 months. Absolutely no problems from Costco. I was impressed. I joined up again 12 months later, but only go about once a month so keep an eye out on Loaded Trolley facebook page and OzBargain for specials.

  • +2

Costco also have the base model lg 60 inch plasma for $989.90 at the moment too. 60pa6500 I think.

  • Deal88 thanks again for the clarification, I think their satisfaction guarantee could work well in this instance :)

    • +2

Invalice - if you are new to Costco, I will mention one thing. Know your prices! The specials are usually really good and worth the trip, but last time I was there I noticed Coke and Lipton Tea were slightly dearer than the specials at Coles/Woolies/IGA.

Usually check my prices on my smartphone when in store,

One bonus is the super cheap slices of pizza and cheap cups of coke in the Costco cafe (at Melbourne at least)

  • Does anyone know if they sell American made Oreos at Costco in Melbourne?

    • +1

      Yes.

      • +1

They sell Oreo's but I'm not sure they are American made. I think these are just the Chinese one's just the same as Colesworth sell.

  • Ye ill definitely look into it, the super cheap slice of pizza is pretty tempting!

    • Unfortunately too tempting!

      • +4

I like the $2.50 hotdog and a drink…again, too tempting!

        • pizza, hot dog and drink, looks like lunch is sorted lol

      • I'm going to grab one slice and a can of soda when I get the TV!

        • +2

Free refills on the cups of soft drink, can't remember the price. And 2 weeks ago I bought a can of coke from the vending machine in the cafe for 80 cents - apparently normal price. Possibly cheapest coke machine in Australia?

        • +2

I hadn't noticed that price on the cans, but the water is 50c for a 500ml. The free refill cup is $1.50 or $2.50 for a hot dog and a refill cup.

  • Bloody great price! I'm getting it on monday.

  • Thank you for the information Inlina – found your website very helpful :)

  • Why is the LG 55" $400 dearer than the Sony one?

    3D Dual play. NVM.

Any idea if the Sony x750 has included 3D glasses?

    • it comes with one glass…but its a very good tv for non 3d viewing..

  • +1

Based on some of the comments above, I'm worried I might never leave once I get there!

  • Quick question, any idea if the TV will fit in the backseat of a sedan? I don't think Costco do deliveries, do they? Will have to borrow a friend's ute I guess.

    • +1

The largest TV I have bought so far is a 32" and I couldn't fit that boxed, upright in the back of my wagon, but on the back seat was no trouble. A 55" might be a squeeze, especially if it is a small sedan.

There are some people that will pick it up for you. They often advertise on the board near the foodcourt at Costco.

      • Thanks, I have fit a 50" in my car's backseat before, but that was unboxed. Boxed 55" probably won't fit.

        • +2

So to give you guys a reference, I managed to put stuff a Samsung 55 LCD one into my Corolla hatchback.

        • Boxed? Hmm…then it should fit in my Camry sedan. How did you fit it, front to back or on the backseat?

    • i have one took it from jb…i was able to fit in my car. its falcon future 96

  • How about fitting one in a Honda civic 8th sedan?

    • The 55"? I bought a 46" and it only just fit inside my corolla sedan

  • Can you go inside to have a look without joining first?

    • +3

Monday-Friday you can, sign the visitor book, browse only, if you purchase you must become member.

    • +2

Only Monday to Thursday at Docklands. Members only Friday through Sunday. You need to get a guest pass from the membership counter.

  • +1

I'm going to docklands on monday morning. If anyone wants to get inside Costco as my guest, you're welcome.

    • Bear in mind the EFTPOS card / credit card you pay with has to match the name on the membership card (or you must pay in cash). I saw that enforced last time I was in Costco - the lady in front of me was with her friend, and she was trying to pay for it. The lady who actually had the membership card could only pay with her own card.

So, if anyone goes with you to pick up a TV, they'll need to pay in cash!

      • Or pay $60 to join. Buy TV. And if you don't think you will return, cancel membership and get $60 back,

I always use my Gold Credit Card for the extended warranty (in case I cancel my Costco membership)

  • Went to Auburn (Sydney) and saw about 10-12 of these on display (at the end of 1 of the aisles that have the TV's) - suggest that you need to get in quick on Monday … (unless they have more 'out the back')

  • does anyone know who would price match Costco with this Sony deal???

  • No one will price match Costco, but you are welcome to try your luck. HN, DSE and JB have refused in the past, expect others to do the same.

  • No one matches Costco because of the membership only element. That said, once you start going it's very addictive.

  • How does this TV compare to the ex650 they had in sale last month? Worth forking out the extra cash? Might return my ex650 and buy this one if it is.

    • the EX650 doesn't come in 55". The EX630 does, so I'll mention the main difference I know of:

      • EX630 uses Motionflow XR200, the EX750 uses XR400
      • EX630 has 90 deg horizontal viewing angle. The EX750 has 178 degrees.
      • the EX750 has builtin wifi
      • the EX750 has DLNA builtin

Anyway, this is just from my own research on features I'm interested in, and information from Sony's website.

  • The 2.50 delicious hotdog and drink with unlimited refills is probably the best meal deal in the country if you already have a membership.

  • has anyone been to docklands yet? Do they tell you stock levels over the phone?

  • Bought from docklands. They've got heaps of stock, many people buying so be quick!

  • How is Sony Bravia KDL40HX750 compared to LG 42LM6410? which is better considering LG 42LM6410 is available 648 AUD outside and sony here at around 600 AUD.

  • Docklands stock picture

Didn't fit in my camry. Barely fit in my mate's Calais. Had to borrow his ute.

    • +2

I was hoping for a picture of you trying to get it in a Camry.

  • +1

Stock level at Auburn (NSW) was decent as of 8pm.

Here's a pic.. I'd say around 20 left on the floor..

    • "We sell 'em by the pallet loads."

  • went to docklands last night & picked one up!! Looking forward to setting it up over the weekend! YAY

  • Still plenty of these 55" Sony HX750 TVs on the floor last night at Docklands. They even had a special spot for them where they can stack them higher than a single pallet load.

    • How Big is the box? Does anyone know if Costco will hold my purchase until I can arrange delivery? Thanks

    • Went to Costco Docklands today. No 55 inch left, however got a raincheck. Few 40 / 46 inchers left.

      • Did they give you an outlook?

  • box is huge.. but it did fit in my subaru hatchback. The guys at costco are awesome.. took it to my car & got it in. But u need another person to get it inside your house & set it up .. Great TV! lOving it soo far
