Everything you could want and from a good brand

Edit: Could have a built-in bluray player too :-)

  • Damn, just bought the same model from the good guys at $720 and got delivered today. Any chance to get them to refund the difference?

Have a read of this: http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content-PriceGuarant…

      Hopefully it helps.

@winga26… err as long as THIS APPLIES >>> Evidence of an authentic advertised price in a daily newspaper or catalogue, commercial radio or television

      • Wow, thanks loads winga26 for the tip… Will go to the good guys tomorrow for the price match, nice!!!

        • +1

If they ask for the bill, I can provide you the scan copy on Monday !!!

        • +2

Also do let us the outcome tomorrow :)

        • Thank you, you are too kind, will definitely report back when I come back from the GG…

        • Bloody GG wouldn't price match because they said the offer from HN is only a web offer. End up returning the TV and bought from HN instead, a lot of effort for the discount…

        • Sorry to hear about your problems, disagree with GGs, this is NOT only a web offer. Is the TV all you expected? What is the 2d to 3d conversion like? Some people have said viewing SD broadcasts are poor, what have you found?

        • I haven't set the tv up yet, will check how it goes later…

    • Good luck. Hopefully they don't claim it's below their cost price and refuse like they did when I tried that.

I think the Costco TV deal is better(starting next week)
    like this one: Sony Bravia HX750 40″: $699.99 – $120.00 = $579.99
    Comparable in size and specs.

    • Wow, that's a really good price,

I'm currently in the market for a KDL40HX750 and was wondering how do I go about in order to buy it for that above mentioned price? Does costco do home deliveries ? Thanks!

Picked this tv up for $565 a few weeks ago. Very happy with it. Receipt for anyone who wants to try their luck:

Woah, may I ask how'd you get it for so cheap?

      • It was a price error but they honoured it. Now the price has dropped a bit, maybe the receipt will get you a bit more of a dicount if they wont price match it.

    • Harvey Norman honoured this price i was so happy its an amazing price setting it up now !

      • Which Harvey Norman store, going to give it a crack with them today - would help if I can name another store that accepted that price.

  • Reminds me of my TV that I got from HN.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/53696

$50 cheaper, newer and 3d supporting now!

Only thing worse seems to be the warranty 1 year instead of three.

  • bought one!

  • IIRC, its around now that the SE Asia manufacturer start launching/shipping their new 2013 models. So it would seem this is HN clearing the decks.

Might be worth researching what's on the starting blocks to see if it invalidates this as a worthwhile choice.

    • Perhaps it is worth researching that LG nor Sony is a SE asian manufacturer…or maybe im nitpicking

FYI - we have 4 remaining units available at HN Richmond, VIC. Chris

  • Goodguys would do it for $645 but JBs got the deal at $640 with a little arm bending.

  • Just bought the 2nd to last one at HN Marion SA. It's still marked as the higher price in the store.

  • happy to see many likes for my first post :). Just a question guys ,, how is it compared to Sony Bravia KDL40HX750? which is better as both are in the same price range?

  • I bought one of these yesterday to use as a computer monitor and when sitting between 1.5m to 2m away from it at my desk I see hundreds of subtle horizontal lines across the screen about a pixel apart from each other. Its like looking at the screen through fly wire that only has the horizontal wires, not the vertical ones. I think it must have something to do with the passive 3D functionality. When I move to about 3m away the lines are no longer visible and the picture looks perfect. I rang LG and they suggest I take it back but didn't say if it was a fault or not! Be aware for those who will be sitting within 2m of the TV that it has these distracting lines on it.

    • You need to get a active technology TV to not have that problem.

    • Viewing at a distance of 1.5 to 2 metres seems very close for this size of screen. According to a number of sources, including:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optimum_HDTV_viewing_distance

      It states:

'One of the more popular recommendations on the proper HDTV viewing distance is multiply the diagonal measurement of the display screen by 2.5. This recommendation is cited by television manufacturers'

      Hence 42" x 2.5 = 105" x 25.3 = 2667mm = 2.7m approx minimum

Hence the viewing distance should be a lot more than 1.5m or even 2m. I am sure that the manufacturers take this into account and hence your finding that viewing at 3m was fine supports this.

      Auna,

Active sets have their own and probably more concerning problems. Tilt your head to one side and the picture is severely affected. If you lie down then the picture completely disappears!! You are clearly an active picture advocate. Each to his own but do keep in mind that ALL varieties of TV systems have their strengths (delights) and weaknesses (read faults).

Thanks for your comments and feedback. If a TV has a VGA input or has instructions to connect to a computer then it is assumed to be able to be used as a computer monitor. A typical computer monitor will be between 1m to 2m away from the user. I would expect that any TV that offered the functionality of a computer monitor would look fine at this viewing distance otherwise specify a minimum viewing distance in the specifications.

Further more I bought this TV to replace a Soniq 42" I bought from JB Hifi a couple of years ago for $400 which has been an absolutely fantastic computer monitor, far exceeding my expectations. So I am used to using this size display at this distance and it looks amazing. This LG TV looks like rubbish at this distance.

I blame myself for not doing enough research to find this out as I am usually a cautious purchaser and rigorously research my products but I just presumed a brand new LG cinema HDTV would trump an aging Soniq… Won't make that mistake again!

Reddog888 I totally agree with your findings but I find playing PC games or web browsing on a 42" HDTV at this distance to be very immersive. It must come down to personal preference as I now find a 24" monitor to be too small.

So, according to your theory if a 60" Sony TV has a vga port it should be able to be viewed from 1m to 2m away ….. get real. Go into any TV sales outlet and walk along the isles at 1m from the TVs and see how many are good to view at this distance. I hope you have good health insurance with plenty of optometry cover if you intend to continue to view 42" plus screens from 1m away.

It must come down to personal preference as I now find a 24" monitor to be too small.' Or maybe you are going blind from being too close to the screen. LOL.

Hey, if you are happy to do that then good for you, I would NEVER do it.

The reason they have a vga is to allow older style components to be attached AND VIEWED AT AN APPROPRIATE DISTANCE!!! Having a vgs does not mean 'this is a monitor', sorry.

        facepalm
