46inch Dick Smith LED LCD TV $497 - DSE Online or Instore

40

Seems like a good price for a 46" LED LCD TV. $100 off. Add $24.95 for postage to metro Sydney (more for other areas). Or you can buy in store, most of my local stores had stock when I checked.

Specs seem decent too. Will update with impressions when mine has arrived/I've set it up.

  • Recommend taking the extended warranty with these.

    • You reckon? So I should go back and re-do my order with the extended warranty? Are these panels known for being unreliable or something?

      :(

      • with my tvs, i always take out extended warranty for the peace of mind and maybe better resale value.

I bought a 40" VIVO a few years ago for ~$450, came with the standard 12 month warranty. Died on me after 13-14months.

      • Had a couple of el junko tvs fail just out of the warranty period. If you want a real cheap tv then make sure it lasts, get the extended warranty.

        • even though i took out the extended warranty, my 42" 100mhz Soniq TV is still running strong after 2-3 years of average usage.

  • I bought one of these in October for the same price, great tv for the $$.

My Chromium has too many tabs and the title for this was shortened down as "46inch Dick…"
    Happy Monday.

The first two words of the title made me laugh.

  • So how are these TV's? Good enough for a second TV to watch the news and play the occasional Xbox game while the main TV is in use?

  • Has anyone had any experience with DSE brand TV? Would love to hear some review/feedback on these as I have been looking for a cheap 46" for a while now :)

    • As mentioned below the sound isn't that great this could be because its fairly thin, I plugged it into a home theater system to get passed this. The USB playback function is pretty limited as far as file formats go, but if you can live with these limitations its a great TV.

I find it a whole lot better in image quality than my fairly old Panasonic 50" Plasma.

  • My father in law bought the 98cm full HD version of this TV in sales last week for $338. Only real complaint is that the channel changing is really slow and the sound is a little tinny for my liking. The picture is reasonable however I am comparing to my TV (an LG 100 hz).

    • LG 100hz +1 (my next tv).. not a fair comparison for something of this standard.

Repeating for anyone who cant be bothered scrolling up the posts … the el cheapo bargain tvs do compromise in some areas of quality and performance, ie: lower quality components, slower channel changing, weak signal gain, lack of picture definition or contrast.

They can be a good bargain if you are lucky, insure that luck with an extended warranty.
Without it they are not worth the risk and can work out to be a very expensive tv when comparing the years of use until it is off to the tip.
