    • Why didn't you show them the page in the current catalogue. I'm sure that would have alerted them to the offer.

    • Some of the staff has no idea, I told her I wanted Telstra prepaid starter pack, the orange color one. She went to search and came back with Yellow optus starter pack. I repeated my request, then she said no we don't sell telstra starter pack. I show her the pack on the catalogue. She went to search again, still said no, can't find it, must ran out. I walked around the corner and point at the starter pack. She then said. Oh, is that's where it is.. LOL!

EDIT: just remembered there are woolworth express store out there(eg, in Southern Cross MELB). They do not carry the same catalogue as regular woolworth. At least that's what I was told.

      • This offer is not available at Express stores.

        • If the store at southern cross is an express one then you are mistaken because I bought 3 from there this morning at 9 am.

        • for 10 bucks? That means the cashier was lying to me. He refused to sell them to me for dollars at 7am. :-(

    Cheap AFL SUBSCRIPTION or similar

    Step 1 . buy 4 cards
    Step 2. activate cards
Step 3. transfer all credits by calling #100# and select CreditMe2U OR use foillowing web adress to merge accounts
    https://www.my.telstra.com.au/myaccount/register

You can add $10 per day at a charge of 25 cents per transfer.

Do this daily until you accumulate yout $90.

Step 4. Purchase AFL $89.99 subscription for 1 year. ( You can get 1 month for $15 )

N.B this is a good option for Telstra 3G ipads

I hope this works. I did have an online chat with Telstra and have saved my transcript chat which verified the above.

    • Luke, can we use above steps to buy a 16GB Nexus 4 with 14 pack of $30 credits?

  • Hey guys just a question.

I used to be on a plan with telstra but then the 2 year contract plan finished and I called up to cancelled it.

I just bought a prepaid sim card from woolies and when I activated it online I selected new customer and filled in all my personal information. Is this ok and nothing to worry about?

    Thanks guys

If you had an account previously did you not have a logon already ?

You may be able to logon to your old @telstra.com and add your new number (otherwise a call to the call centre might be in order)

        Hey snappy1234,

        Thanks for your reply.

Hey guys, I'm on a Telstra Plan, can I just confirm:

Can I swap to a prepaid sim, buy stuff from Google Play, then swap back and have these apps?
And if I do this, how long will I have to use up the credit before it expires?

    • To my knowledge, if you physically change the SIM to buy these apps.. there should be nothing stopping you.

Your phone has downloaded the apps so you should still have them

I think one of the posts above said it was 60 day expiry? However I'm on encore and that's only 30 days

So would it be wise to choose the long life offer since it gives you a 6 month credit expiry if you were purchasing this just to use at Google Play?

  • Never bought these prepaid sims before, I intend to get some to buy apps off the play store. So essentially I can grab a bunch of them and use them whenever I like? Sort of like an iTunes card? Is there no expiry or limit on the number of cards you can use on the one phone?

Being a Telstra/Android n00b myself I would like to know answers to the above 2 questions as well.

I have a Nexus 4 on Optus - can I just put in this sim, activate, then use it to buy $30 worth of apps under my Google Play Store account?

I assume then it will be linked to my Play account and then I can dispose of the sim?

Helensvale claimed to have none yesterday. Went to Oxenford tonight and got two.

    I got a raincheck for 6 !!

  • I activated mine & everything but then when I go to buy something (reddit sync pro), I tap 'Bill my Telstra account' and then it says Verifying Account with mobile provider, and then it throws me an Error saying 'An error occured. Please try again'.

    • Gotta be using the SIM's 3G.

      • Does this use data and get charged to the account?

        • I think it depends on which 'plan' you choose. The Encore one that I chose gave me $250 + 400MB for a month (which is probably worth quitting LC over considering Telstra's superior quality).

      • No you don't - it was because my account wasn't fully activated (even after an hour), since I got them to do it manually via a phone call, its been working & haven't turned mobile data on at all.

  • Ok we bought 7 of these so far. I just activated one and tried the CreditMe2U… it only let me transfer $10 to my wife's number and there was a $.25 charge for that. Why doesn't it let me move the whole $30 (or maybe $29 at least)?

    • Welcome to Telstra.
Where things are expensive and don't make sense.

      Other Telcos -
Cheap and still don't make sense.

    • maximum $10 per day only then $9 makes $29 and a few cents leftover

      Did it recently

      • Yes I see. I kept pushing buttons and got a 2nd $10 transfer but the 3rd attempt got a message saying I had reached my $10/24h limit. This through the My Pre-Paid app. Was hoping to hear going through the website would work better but now I won't waste any more time on it. Never used CreditMe2U before either. FYI, all this left $9.40 on the new account and I successfully transferred $9 to my own number just now. Hmm, what to do with $.15 credit?

Not sure Telstra means what they say about limits but I'm happy.

  • I have a Nexus 7 3G, when I active the sim card is it possible to select expiry date more than 30 days ?

    • +2

Activate it on the long life (180 days) plan and then change your offer to simplicity to get better rates and keep the original expiry.

      • How does one go about doing that?

        • +1

You'll find the right page by searching google for Telstra pre-paid activation, one of the steps of the activation is choosing your plan which would be 'long life', I think you need to call them if you want to port your old number across though.

After it's activated you dial #100# and it will bring up a menu where you can change your offer, change it to simplicity.

        • And you're sure it retains the 6 month expiry? That seems pretty good.

        • Yes, I do this.

  • Heaps available @ Dural, NSW.

  • Is this deal still available?
