"real cities do not exist in a bubble; they share a region and affect one another." She goes on to say that increased connectivity to neighboring cities allows for a better experience, allowing for better trade and wider scale effects such as crime and pollution to keep synchronized across the region.[47] Bradshaw also noted the performance benefit due to the engine utilizing EA's server hardware to assist in gameplay calculations:
GlassBox is the engine that drives the entire game — the buildings, the economics, trading, and also the overall simulation that can track data for up to 100,000 individual Sims inside each city. There is a massive amount of computing that goes into all of this, and GlassBox works by attributing portions of the computing to EA servers (the cloud) and some on the player's local computer.
—Lucy Bradshaw, SVP Maxis[47]Look, if your net is flaky as shit, okay, thats unfortunate. But if it's reasonably good then you have nothing to complain about. It's an online only game. Just like WoW was online only. No-one complained about WoW when you had to update the client every week!
+1 votegambit_asdf on 11/03/2013 - 20:31 ¶You are wrong about the wow comment. Everyone hated the Tuesday 10 hour maintenance, in the end blizz simply beated the users into submission by not giving in.
+2 votesThe problem is that if you have any hiccup in your Internet, you lose hours of work. That's just unacceptable in a game like Sim City that requires hours of work. It's also a sign that you aren't actually always online, it just seems like it because you have to authenticate at login.

actual box verison at ozgameshop $57 FS

Origin has a Digital Deluxe version for $99 that includes a British, French & German city set addon as well as the Plumbob Park and Hereos & Villans set. I'd assume all of this will be available later, as DLC. I can't see these addons costing $50 if you want them later, so it probably isn't a good buy.
EB Games has a Collectors Edition, at the same price they're selling the Limited Edition - $78. The Collectors Edition has the British city set addon as well as the Hereos & Villans set. Although it does not say, I think it would also include that Plumbob Park.
gamespasta on 23/02/2013 - 18:12 ¶Hi,
The game is available at our website for USD 32.99
We can send just key codes or ship the box for minimal costThanks
P.S - Apologies if this is not allowed

gamespasta on 25/02/2013 - 23:11 ¶Yes, if you decide to get it delivered, we ship the whole retail box with game DVDs. And if you want, we can mail you the CD keys in advance and also ship the DVDs so you can download and play the game while the DVD arrives :)
+1 votegamespasta on 07/03/2013 - 00:32 ¶Hi folks,
We're sold out of our first lot of the game and the second lot is selling fast too. Sadly, the price has slightly shot up now to 34.99. I thought its better if I post it in advance :)
Thanks

The Quote Train on 25/02/2013 - 14:01 ¶Ok cool. A friend and I might bite the bullet with gamespasta
+1 votegamespasta on 25/02/2013 - 14:04 ¶If you need any assistance, assurance or help, feel free to contact me. Since we're promoting the website, I'll let you in on some discount codes after your first order :)
The Quote Train on 25/02/2013 - 18:09 ¶I'll take you up on the codes offer. I'll PM you when we've made our purchases.
gamespasta on 26/02/2013 - 20:00 ¶Yea you'll have to wait. Sucks, I know but there's just nothing we can do about it. Also the release date is 8th march for us so

gamespasta on 26/02/2013 - 20:56 ¶Yea but non-steam keys. They're plain retail keys, not steamworks enabled

gamespasta on 26/02/2013 - 21:11 ¶Yea we're not listing retail keys at the moment but can arrange. It'll be $20 but you'll need to follow certain steps to download and play. If interested, please email us :)
-1 votedaniel1415 on 08/03/2013 - 19:38 ¶Hi, It's now 8pm on Friday and I still haven't received a key. Please advise of the current situation or let me know how I can cancel and refund so I can purchase through one of the other online options who have already released.
I noticed your website has stated that the keys will be sent within 12 hours, for the last day.

I have to say they've been very quick to respond to my 3 emails. So props to gamespasta for that. Though like many of you im anxiously waiting for it. They told me at 8pm AEST that keys will be emailed out in the next 4-6 hours…
So now I think we can expect keys in the next 3-5 hours… bit annoying to wait, but the price was a pretty good bargain.

I PM'd gamespasta earlier today and he said at 18:29 ACST:
Keys are on their way to us and will be sent out to you in 4-6 hours. Trying to cut down your waiting time as much as I can. Being a gamer myself, I know how hard that is!Apparently he can't post in the forum more than five times a day due to being outside of Australia. So hopefully we will have our keys soon!
+1 voteHi folks, I found Ozbargain while searching for a good SimCity CD key price and the OP was in the results. Ended up taking the chance with GamesPasta (very friendly and answered all my questions extremely quickly) and got my key an hour ago, so you guys should be receiving yours soon if you haven't already.
Just doing battle with the terrible server situation now..

It's not even 6AM in India yet! http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_IN.aspx

anthonyCDKEYWH on 27/02/2013 - 01:08 ¶Australian website - https://cdkeys.com.au/products/SimCity.html

Found another source:
http://fastcdkeys.com/pre-orders/93-simcity-limited-edition....
$47.99 but the (key) delivery date is shown as 9 March.
+1 voteGilligan94 on 08/03/2013 - 02:18 ¶I would like to buy and play the game now, which of the sites are delivering immediately? which take paypal?

Just bought my key from
http://www.gamekeysbuy.com/simcity-limited-edition-cd-key-ea...
$44
That site doesn't seem to get the best reviews/comments. Some Steam game keys seem to have been revoked in the past with no support.
For $2 more, I'm trying this site out. Has lots more positive reviews (http://www.trustpilot.com/categories/gaming)

ctrlaltdel on 08/03/2013 - 15:01 ¶JB is selling the Ltd Edition for $69

ctrlaltdel on 08/03/2013 - 15:50 ¶i was at JB (Bourke St Melbourne CBD), they have heaps of the Ltd Edition. with the game broken atm, most likely the price will drop soon.

+2 votesHey i just signed up to share this with you credits to WeiKaiLe on whirlpool.
IF you go to the indian origin store here
http://store.origin.com/store/easa/en_IN/html/pbPage.simcity...Its is 1499 indian rupees which equates to $27 AUS. You literally wont find a legit copy any cheaper.
+4 votesscytherbladez on 10/03/2013 - 12:07 ¶I just bought the limited edition version for $27 AUD through Origin on my EA account. Cheering!
Note: On registration page I just logged onto my account and added my name, address & phone number but make sure Country is set as India. And use your cc for payment. After you proceed it doesn't confirm, but I checked my cc and charge was there, loaded up Origin and game was there.
Here's the original whirlpool post thanks to crunchynuts.
1) Load http://store.origin.com/store/easa/en_IN/home/ThemeID.122020... in browser with no proxy.
2) Proceed to add to cart and checkout.
3) On the registration screen, type in your real aussie address but for the country put India.
4) Use your credit card as per normal.
5) Wait for emails.
scytherbladez on 10/03/2013 - 12:10 ¶I know. I should've just linked to the original post, but I wanted to say you can add it to your account straight away and not wait for the e-mail (which came pretty quickly any ways!).
+2 votesThe underlying message here if of course that we should all be pirating our games more, piracy is so rampant in places like India and Russia that the local prices are set appropriately to try and tempt a few locals to actually buy the games legit rather than from street vendors…
If only we in Australia were out at the local markets picking up hand written CD-R's with our games rather than tolerating the insultingly inflated prices, we would all be better off in the long run, no?
(note: tongue firmly in cheek)
scytherbladez on 11/03/2013 - 10:54 ¶Apart from the DRM & the PITA of connecting, I'm quite liking the game. But having to connect to the same server to continue a saved game is nonsense!! Choose your server wisely!

I thought the actual server didn't matter, are you saying the cloud save is per-server? Does this also apply to multiplayer…oooh, this would explain why I can never see any of my American friends online even though I know they are in an actual game (but, on a different server)…that's a very poorly explained "feature".
lambomann007 on 11/03/2013 - 12:22 ¶Anyone tried buying it from the really fake looking site? I did a search for it and found a few people talking about how they'd got Borderlands 2 fine from there: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/80404#comment-1036253

I have the limited edition with UK building pack, I have used, or missed any of them, so in answer to your question, I wouldn't bother if the saving is important to you, the base game has plenty in it and by the time you feel like you need to plonk Big Ben, the DLC will probably be on sale cheaper than the $10 they are asking right now.
