Australian Nikon D600

Hi All,

I am looking at getting a Nikon D600 sometime very soon, ideally with the 28-300mm lens (lens baby and 50mm AF-S to come soon after).

Anyway, I note that there are quite a few deals this weekend, so I thought I would check here to see if anyone has seen anything of interest.

So far, the best I have seen is around $3300 for the body and lens.

I know I can save a fair bit by getting grey import stuff, and I do regret not buying it when Adorama had kits for $2k earlier this year, but the dust spot issue has me worried enough to consider paying the premium for Nikon Australia warranty.

Any input would be much appreciated.

  • If it's of any help they're offering a $150 trade-in at the moment …. possibly unable to be stacked with any other discount you can manage, but worth keeping in mind perhaps

  • Best deal so far is $2750 for the 24-85mm kit. At this stage it looks like a winner.

  • Dust spots are easily cleaned. Tip the camera so it is facing down and use the blower to clean it. If it happens to be an oil stain then you need to use a wet swab. Just set the camera to sensor cleaning mode and press the shutter to lift the mirror, use the blower to blow and dust off and then use the swab to gently clean the oil off of the sensor. Camera sensors are tougher than people think.

Or you can take it to Nikon and have them clean it for around $65, which is a good option.

  • I would also consider the Nikon D7100. The specs on that thing is like a D800E with a crop sensor. D600 AF system isn't so good. People give full frame too much credit. Once you move to full frame everything costs more.
