Is this a good external HDD?

I need a external desktop HDD and was looking at the dicksmith website and found a few 2TB for $99 but this was only one in stock near me (3029) http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XM1405/seagate-expansion-2tb…

Just wondering if its a good model and decent price?
If not can someone point me in the right direction, was looking for at least 1TB, not fussed about it being portable either.

    Short Answer:Yes.
Longer answer: It has a decent size, USB 3 (very important!) and most people in the reviews of amazon are happy with it.
You can find it at other shops as well (staticice.com.au) for the same price.
I personnaly don't buy Seagates anymore, due to a few bad experiences years ago, but that's maybe just me and other people might have had bad experiences with WesternDigital drives, so everyone has his favourites.
The WD Passport drives are around 140$ though.
Other options for you would be the Toshiba Canvio or Buffalo 2TB Desktop, they are around the same price and mostly found in your local computershop. And then there's the HP SimpleSaver, i picked up one at my local BigW the other day for 98$ and i'm happy with it. Hope this helps.

    • Thanks heaps for your answer, gonna go have a look into the one at Big W tomorrow :)

  • This may be a better deal as IAlso need to get . Adata 1TB 2.5" Portable HDD Classic CH11 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 selling @ $79 in www.iibuy.com..au currently. Does anyone know much about this brand?
