Aldi Expressi Pod Alternatives?

Are there any coffee pods available at Coles/Woolworths that would fit into the Aldi Expressi machine? Aldi really isn't close to me and it would be much more convenient to get these at my local Coles. Thanks in advance

  • The Woolworths select ones fit in the Aldi Expressi machine. However, when I tried it I found it was not as nice. I'm unsure whether this is because the coffee isn't as good (only tried one) or whether it is because they're not designed for the expressi machine or not (they have internal filters).

I'd give one a go to see if you like the taste. If you don't like it either, just stock up when you go to Aldi :)

    • Hi,
Which Woolies select pods are you referring yo, they sell Nespreso compatible pods, are there other ones?

  • I heard they were similar to the 'map' pods

    • I heard they were similar to the 'map' pods

They're not though. The fact that a Map pod fits the Aldi machine is where the similarity ends.

I'd read somewhere too that they were compatible, so got some to try. With the Map pods, the machine struggled, so we opened up the two different pods to compare. The filter is in the opposite end, so basically with the Map pods in an Aldi machine, the water is passing through the filter BEFORE the coffee.

  • Ah okay good to know, anything that Coles sells? The map ones look interesting although the only stockist for those I could find was Target.

    • Coles ones are not compatible but Woolworths Select are and Gloria Jeans ones that Woolworths sell as well.
The Woolworths ones can be refilled with your own beans and foil tops. I have a moccha blend of coffee and that's very nice in the refilled pods. Proper refilling pods are being investigated.

    • You can get map pods from Harvey Norman as well.

  • I use the ALDI pods in my caffe Italy machine when I can get them. When I can't I use the Woolies select ones. It's likely they're backwards compatibil the pod is the same shape.

  • I just swapped to a coffee machine which takes beans … Aldi coffee beans for $12 make around a 100 coffees which taste much better than any capsule/pod I tried. Better for the environment, coffee grounds for the garden and better taste. Downside the cost of the machine is higher - but long term it still saves money.
