  • As usual all Invicta watches not available to Australia

…whoops! for the first time ever they are available

    • Pretty sure Costco sells them. I see them all the time. Price range is around $200-$350.

    • I have a few and the movements are cheap I have had 2 fog up after a shower so clearly not waterproof like most chronographs would I buy one again, no the feel cheap like something would find at the counter of a caltex

I found it for $59 on Amazon but there's only 2; I don't need another watch only it seems a good deal if the watch is good, anyone find a review anywhere?

      • From what I read it seemed that Invicta had a fairly good reputation (a while ago) but it's been steadily eroded by some poor quality watches and questionable warranty policies.

Can't really find any reviews it might be reasonable value considering a Chronograph (assuming it works correctly) usually only appears at +$100 watches.

As I said the "RRP" is a bit of a joke - much better (reputable) alternatives out there for that price.

Have a read on Watchuseek.com the biggest online forum for watch lovers and collectors. Just mentioning Invicta on there will get you a 100 page thread of abuse.

Invicta was an old Swiss brand that used to make well regarded swiss watches before they went broke along with many other old swiss watch brands during the Quartz crisis in the 70's. Some time later the name and rights were bought by a chinese company that now makes mostly cheap chinese watches and sticks the old swiss name on the front. Gullible buyers expect the quality of a traditional swiss watch but are getting a cheap chinese watch. Same deal with Rotary, Ingersoll and many other brands.

Basically they are well known for bogus RRP and massive discounts. They are a bit like buying a rug, nobody ever pays the RRP, in fact the RRP is part of the trick to make you think you are getting a bargain. I totally agree with Millzy, in fact he might be generous. I guess $60 isnt too much to risk for a beater watch but buy it expecting it to be a $60 watch not a bargain $600 watch.

      • Thanks
I was wondering how to find a review.
Interesting that there are watch buffs same as wine buffs. Wonder if there are watch snobs…?

        • There are as many watch snobs as there are watches!!!! For many watch snobs, Invicta are the epitome of everything that is wrong with cheap watches being passed off as genuine swiss watches. Genuine watch snobs would rather be arguing about whether the manufacture' movement in their Vacheron Constantin is better than the movement in somebody else's Patek Phillipe!!!

I have an Invicta with a RRP of $599 I believe it was bought (a gift) for <80. They are always marked down.
I have a seiko as well which RRP is about the same and there is no comparison the Seiko is way better.

I agree with Millzy its a $100 watch. Not super but solid.

  • 'Swiss quartz movement' really?

  • Invicta has always faked RRP for low quality watches and create a higher than what they really are status. I would agree I wouldnt pay anything more than 100 bucks for one regardless if it can grow arms and legs to make you coffee..

    • I think you are getting that mixed up with a Daikin air conditioner, they feed the baby as well as making you a coffee. :-)
So we are agreed this is a $100 watch and so $60 must be a good deal as long as you want a $100 watch also we agree this is NOT a good deal if you want a $500 watch.

      • agree with this. what's why i explained, it only worth $1xx, not $500. :) still 30%-40% off.

Only time I've ever heard of these watches is the numerous OzB postings of them selling for about 10% of their alleged RRP.

If I was in the market for a <$100 watch, I'd rather get a mechanical Vostok from smirs.ru .

    • Agree with the vostok or even a Seiko 5
