  • Does AC adapter work on 50 Hz 240V AC?

Does Amazon really include Free S+H… to AU?

    • It's trying to charge me $13.41 postage to Melbourne.
Price also shows as $59.99 for me.

  • I think U.S uses different digital radio format, so not compatible in Australia. I might be wrong.

    • I think this is only a traditional radio station, no digital radio supported.

    • Made especially for the world traveler, the Globe Traveler G3 packs many features into a classic short wave package.

      This will work worldwide

      • This will work worldwide

Unless analog signals come to an end worldwide :-P

      • Yes, it even decodes Single Side Band (SSB) mode, used by Radio Amateurs (80, 40, 20, 15 & 10 meter bands, & more) & CBer's on (27 MHz).

eHam.com has a review of it, eg, under "General Coverage Receivers"

Some reviewers said it's Air Band reception was rather dim.

Price quoted in review (likely RRP, not a street price) was ~ US$ 170.

      • Does it support Digital Radio Broadcasting (DAB)? Not seen that in the description.

        • Nope.

'too hard for a radio that's got to work around the world.

It's got Synchronous mode for reception of AM band, though. This lets you choose which of 2 sidebands to use, eg, if there's a loud/strong station, on only 1 side of the freq of the station you want to hear.

Normally, you'd choose the sideband on the -other- side of your station's frequency, in that case.

  • Btw, it's 120V only with US plug.

    • This is designed for travellers so will work outside USA

      Here is the manual http://www.sailcom.co.uk/receivers/English_G3_manual.pdf

      • Thanks for that… quite a specialised company…

They have a "package" (what? an audio cable + decoding S/W, I'd guess) that lets you view WeFAX (Weather FAX) images on your computer, from audio supplied by the little radio.

Might be useful on a boat…?

(The cable would likely be a male (3.5mm) to male (3.5mm); many have
one around, from audio patching, eg, MP3 player to amplifier, etc.)

      • Support doc'ts are also at California based] Eton Corp.'s site:

This radio's support page is here:

        • It's much cheaper to buy from Eton!! - MSRP $0.00 USD

  • I presume VHF aircraft band includes Air Traffic Control?
