181

As per title, it is free.

Unparalleled in its depth and historical accuracy, Europa Universalis gives players the freedom to rule any nation from an impressive choice of over 250 countries. Europa Universalis III: Chronicles also brings the expansion packs Heir to the Throne and Divine Wind to retail shelves for the first time, deepening the experience and extending an already robust playing time.

  • Requires Credit Card/Paypal

    • Why?

      • Comes up as 'billing agreement' on paypal. Something doesn't seem quite right…

Requires credit card => NOT FREE

FREE = doesn't cost you money, that's not rocket science..

        See comment under this one.

    Received the keys..Paypal wasn't charged..Thanks OP!

  • They got my PayPal authorisation, but when I submit the order, this came up.

Sorry, your order cannot be placed. For further assistance, contact GameFly Support.

    Not happy.

    • I contacted GameFly Support and this is what I got in reply. WTF they need to telephone me from overseas to verify a free "purchase", and they didn't ask for my telephone during registration. Fail in all aspects! I vote negative for this poor experience.

Thanks for your recent order on GameFly! Your order will require us to contact you by phone to verify with you.

We will reach out to you as soon as possible using the phone number located on your account during the following times, Monday –Friday from 8AM CST to 7PM CST and Saturday/Sunday from 8AM CST to 6PM CST.

How to cancel Paypal pre-approved payments:

      Method A

      1. Log into Paypal
      2. Go to My Account
      3. Click "Profile" (and not one of the sub-headings)
      4. Click "My Money"
      5. Find "My pre-approved payments", click "Update"
      6. Click "GameFly Digital, Inc."
      7. Click "Cancel"

      Method B

      1. Log into Paypal
      2. Search for keyword "pre-approved"
      3. Click the result
      4. Follow step 6 in method A

Damn hard is right on. Even harder is how to cancel my GameFly account? I used this link from their FAQ (https://www.gamefly.com/cancel/cancel-membership) and this is what I got:

Sorry, your account is not eligible to view this page. For further assistance, contact GameFly Support.

The farce continues. I contacted GameFly Support to cancel my membership. They replied saying they cannot find me in their system.

  • My first post, signed up for the free key and got the game to work.

The account has a free trial for a month, after which there is a monthly fee of $22.95 or $15.95.

The game is not transferable to Steam. I got the cd key but can't activate it in Steam. Booo

I guess its free for a month.

  • I'll be interested if someone figures out a way to get this without a credit card.

Can anyone else confirm whether this is truly free (a permanent key) or just a 1 month rental with automatic credit card billing thereafter (which would be an aweful trap, but since when are capitalists honest and upright)?

    • I decided to commit myself and go ahead with the transaction. I received a serial by email. You download the program using a Gamefly. I "paid" using a credit card rather than Paypal. Apparently EU4 is coming out soon, so this is a promotion for that game. The best way to gain new customers and generate freewill is to give people something for free rather than overwhelm them with loud, invasive advertisements. Few companies and their overpaid advertising people realize this though.

I'm surpised this isn't more popular. Since when do Ozbargainers turn down freebies? Even if it is for a complicated game that most people lack the patience or intellect to master.

  • Can u delete the Gamefly client once the game is downloaded and still play it ?
