I vowed I wouldn’t buy this until it hits $2500. I figure I’m pretty safe, at the moment.

I wouldn't go out with a supermodel unless she asks me out. I figure i'm pretty safe at the moment.

No you're not. Go get that supermodel!

  • Wonder if JB will price match…

  • Bought the CX 8 months ago for this price. Amazing TV.

  • Is this the Evo panel that people rave about?

    • Only people raving about the evo panel are paid off reviewers. It gives you more brightness compared to last year by about 75 nits and with better efficiency but also gives you magenta and green tinting off angle, sometimes on angle too. Still not even as bright as 2019 models. C1 83 inch has evo panel but the other sizes are a lottery if they do. G1 definitely has it on all sizes.

      • Actually the 77" C1 has the new Evo panel as does the 77" Sony A80J..the C1 is much cheaper than what the CX was last year and C9 previously btw….
If you can still find a C9 they are brighter than the others and perform similarly

      • +3

On C1, brightness is exactly same between EVO panel and non-EVO panel. Changing it to G1 brightness(from 800 nits to 1000nits) is achievable in service menu but not worth the warranty risk, because the additional nits are not very much notificable, unless you compare two TVs side by side.

However, EVO is next gen OLED panel, more stable/longer lifetime/better burn in tolerance, which is over weight the magenta tinting. On OLED, Blue pxiel lifetime is much shorter than red/green. In EVO panel, blue OLED compound has changed to more stable deuterium instead of hydrogen, and deuterium blue has a much longer lifetime than conventional hydrogen blues. So EVO panels have longer overall lifespan, and it should reduce wash out effects over years in theory.
For G1 EVO panels, LG provides 5 years burn in warranty for G1 sold in NAM for general usage. It's very different from previous years' models, which burn in is specifically not covered by warranty.
Bottom line, if paying same money, EVO panel is better, even you don't use its peak brightness, it has longer lifespan.

To original question, 55/65inch TVs are a lottery for EVO, you would have much more chance if TV is more recently manufactured. There is date on the TV box. Even if you don't get EVO panel, don't feel bad, because performance is still same.

PS: For C1 owners, please ensure you don't unplug power for TV when you not watching it.
You should turn TV off and but still with power, so TV can run its compensate cycle at night.

Adding to this, it appears that the G1 has additional hardware to handle the increased heat created by the EVO panel. If you use the service menu hack on a C1, you may very well reduce the lifespan of the TV. I suggest you stick with LG's tuning and enjoy the additional years of service.

          • @kranix: Edit: Reply was meant for Mandalorians… G1 has parts only 5 yr warranty, so that's a bust and pointless calling it a warranty if they don't give you the full thing. Yes the blue subpixel always was pushed harder but by 2019 they had already got on top of burn in for the most part anyway. LG have made an update so you can no longer allow the C1 panel to be unleashed fully. 83 inch is the only size it will. You say the evo benefits outweigh their flaws, I dont think so. Longevity is yet to be seen, tinting is a big problem. The brightness improvement is only relative to the content and it also dilutes the colours, as the WRGB panels cannot keep the colour volume beyond 300 nits. So by the time they hit over 500, its just white. This a reason for the new QD OLED to preserve colour volume. In what world does it get to 1000 nits?

          • @kranix: Yeah there's a good reason why my A90J has a heatsink

  • Nearly tempted to cancel JB order and get this today but JB have extended warranty so long-term the better choice.

    • is an extended warranty included? how long is it? thanks

    • If you get a G1 is comes with 5 year warranty from LG

      • I believe the 5 year covers burn in? The general manufacturer's warranty is still only 1 year?

  • Can anyone suggest 75inch tv ~$2000
only for watching movies/tvshows & occasional games& will use it with Firestick 4k.
confused between Samsung Q60A vs TCL C727(Goodguys) vs LG UP80 or U7G.

    • I'd definitely choose the Hisense over the others..
Samsung has zero QC with DSE on almost every panel and TCL is just horrible here In Australia as we don't get the US model's and awful slow laggy OS

      • OS shouldnt matter if using an external player tho

        • The PQ wasn't great on my P- series with HDR looking bad…I literally bought it for HDR only to put it in SDR all the time and yes the TV crashed and reboots with slow start up….
Most YT reviews for TCL are US based with completely different models and specs

    • +1

I have TCL 75c727 around 1 month +, the picture quality is great/bright and I don’t have any problems with it except…
The OS is laggy occasionally, but reboot solve the problem.(you got Firestick anyway)
The viewing angle isn’t very good.
My last TV is 10 years old budget Panasonic plasma, so i am not expert. But I also just bought a cheaper TCL 65p615 for my father (only watch news channel and he want energy efficient tv). The 75c727 picture quality is much more better, but it cost few hundreds more upfront and need around 40% more energy. Probably QLED and FALD does make the PQ better but also cost more energy.

      • +2

Exactly it's where your coming from and your expectations that will determine your satisfaction.
I've always owned TV'S from the big 3 but tried TCL and Hisense previously and never again.
A media device like a Firestick won't fix the awful processing, motion and PQ
I'd rather pay the extra and not deal with the issue's and annoyances that escalate as time goes on and your patience grows thin.

        • If I remember correctly, cheapest 75inch Sony/Samsung/Lg cost around $100-$500 more than TCL 75c727 during my shopping (I got it for $1550 delivered- $100 cash back from TCL included). They were all still in my budget, but just that I am not sure cheapest Sony/Samsung/Lg will be better than TCL with QLED and FALD. I still don’t own Sony/Samsung/Lg, so I don’t know what is their lowest range tv quality. But i am pretty satisfied 75c727 for the price I paid. (Used $1300 home gift card that was 10% discount)

  • Hopefully 1000 soon

    Wen moon wen lambo

  • Very strange I think the Goodguys had both the C1 and G1 at $3,995 last week (no discounts on either or sale) then all of a sudden the C1 is $2,995 and G1 $4,595. I'm waiting for the G1 to get back down to $3,400, I was hoping for around $3,100-3,200 before CES but it seems a pipe dream the way they are being priced for these 'sales'.

    • I was looking on TGG site yesterday and noticed the matching prices too. Very interesting one comes down $1k and the other goes up $600!

  • +5

It won't be in stock. Chances are you'll have to wait at least a month for it to arrive. Probably longer, since you'll be behind all the Black Friday buyers. This is technically illegal, but they're doing it again because they know they can get away with it. Don't reward them.

    • +2

Yeah 100%..I waited 9 weeks for my A90J despite it saying on website it was in stock…it was actually a back order but they were more than happy to take my money straight away

    • Just got a call after ordering that they'd get delivery mid to late jan

      • +2

That's what they told me last week. But when I pressed them further they said that they couldn't guarantee anything and I got a whole range of excuses.

        • Just wanted to say I ended up getting my order today so I guess they stuck to their promise of mid Jan

          • @chairboi: That's fantastic, thanks for sharing.

They cancelled my order without my authority and I had to bend over backwards to get it reinstated at the same price. I called them yesterday and was told that the ETA is still mid to late January.

  • Just price matched jb at good guys Gepps cross Sa. I think they still had another after mine. Cheers
