        I was North island but went rural. I didn’t have any major issues. I can’t remember which network it roamed on, I don’t think it was Spark.

          Most parts of Asia you simply walk up to a counter at the airport and they do it all for you in 5 mins, and the rates are always better.

        Local SIMs in Asia would most likely be cheaper.

        Specifically for Indonesia though, the Airport SIMs are quite expensive (Rp 200,000 - Rp 250,000) if you do buy it locally (not in Airport) you need to go into a phone store in one of their location in the city and register your device as the IMEI is blocked. I guess if you don't mind waiting and registering your IMEI then it is the trade off.

        Our SIMs are simply plug and play with no hassle, and yes you may pay a bit more for the convenience and Aussie live support!

    I am interested in 3x e-Sim for Japan - but 1 of the 3 phones has an existing esim … can I still activate esim on that phone? Then I can just manage the data via the phone Sim Manager right?

      Yep. I think you can only have 1 eSIM active on most phones. The other eSIM stay registered but not connected to the network.

      I have an iPhone XS. I have 4 eSIMs registered. At the most, I can have 1 physical SIM and 1 eSIM active and connected to the network.

      You can have up to 30 eSims stored in your phone.
      But only one can be activated.

      So 1 eSIM + 1 physical sim can be activated at once.

          If FE, I believe it does not have esim capabilities. But I'm pretty sure normal S20 should have it.

      Although I had terrible experience with Flexiroam - I added the plan but the eSIM was not able to be downloaded, contacted support and turn out they need to "reset" the account. But they responded a week after when my trip ended.

        Physical - insert when you land (no point in inserting in Australia).

        eSIM - you can scan and add the eSIM in Australia to get it ready in Japan, the internet won't work but the activation will start.

            @kizashi: Would absolutely be enough provided your not watching media whilst on data. In the past I’ve used 5gb sim for 2 weeks and it’s been fine for maps, email etc.

            @kizashi: remember you can cache google maps when you have wifi - search still relies on data but the map data is cached. there's also wholly offline maps like Here Maps.

              Zooming in and out in google maps using your hotel wifi before heading out to your destination is great and the way to do without a sim completely. (Sorry, OP).

              It’s always good to keep your wifi on when walking the streets too.

    Going to Thailand late August. Your table suggests Thailand is 16 days and expiry is 31/12 but on the website it says 8 days with expiry 30/08.

    Could you please confirm which is accurate?

      Sorry we will update this but essentially both the Physical and eSIM has double validity promotion until 31 March 2023 i.e. 16 days.

      If you use it on or after 1 April it will revert back to 8 days.

      You should provide the IMEI for the eSIM (I believe for most phones this should be the second one)

        Would best option be 30 Day - Asia Explorer?

        I tried on the website to select 20 or 30gb options excluding china. But it did not come up.

        Only 10 gb and 20gb including china came up at $60

        Is that right?
