  Been looking into this type of clothing for a while. Prices have gone up since I last looked, was hanging out for the BF sales.

    I have the Uniqlo stuff too but it’s no where near as good in my opinion, definitely not in summer. These are some of my findings on the differences:
    - Uniqlo only tests up to 10 washes while Solbari tests up to 50.
    - Uniqlo fabric is very lightweight, which can feel nice to wear but offers much less protection and struggles in our summer UV ranges. Solbari have a range of fabric choices with different weights while still achieving the maximum protection. The sensitive range is especially awesome, which is my personal fave because entirely synthetic fabrics are extremely unpleasant for me in humid, sweaty conditions.
    - Uniqlo range is very limited in styles and sizing. Sizing is really important with UPF so bigger sizes means you aren’t stretching as much (the more an item stretches, the less protection you’ll have in that area).
    - I still burn through Uniqlo, even at a UV5 exposure, but have never burnt through Solbari even at a UV12 exposure.
    - Uniqlo airism doesn’t look good as it wears, it gets pulls so easily, etc. Solbari washes and wears so well, it always comes out of the wash like new even if I have sweated an entire bottle of sunscreen onto it 🤢
    - skin cancer is pretty traumatic (I can still feel pulsating in the tumors I had cut out 20years ago) and expensive so the fact I can feel the difference in fabrics is mentally so much better for me.

    Regardless, I’m very happy to hear you care about covering up, too many people don’t. Our sun is brutal and whatever you choose just make sure you follow the full spectrum of Slip, Slop, Slap 😊

        It's definitely an investment, they aren't cheap items. I save up and currently own 2 pieces of clothing (shoulder wrap and poncho) and 2 accessories (gloves and gaitor). I'd love so much more but I have to budget accordingly.

      Have you tried any other uv brands? I wear solbari and a lot of long sleeve linen which gets me through summer mainly. I find solbari quite limited fashion wise for me (F). Thanks :)

        I feel like I have tried just about all of them, including cheap questionable knockoffs from eBay/Amazon 😆. And I will clarify that you don't NEED to have clothing with a UPF rating in order for it to provide protection. This is a great starting point on how to choose regular clothing that will protect you. For me, I had skin cancer before 21 and I am deathly afraid of aging, so I choose to be this way in terms of protection - you don't have to be … but if you are as well, read on 🙃
        I have a sensory processing disorder so fabrics are very difficult for me. Linen is great if you can tolerate it (I can't), but for it be sun protective it can't be too lightweight (protection comes from how tight the weave is, which is why 100% linen is very sun protective but trends have seen that become diluted or thinned out for comfort.
        Bamboo Body is another brand I really like and definitely has some more fashionable styles but I mostly use it in winter/autumn, basically when the UV index is up to 5. Of course you can wear it in higher UV conditions but I kind of have a trauma response at this stage to my tumor sites so I just prefer to go hard on my sun protection. And so long as i don't have a vitamin D deficiency I will always favour being over protective.They have really comfy fabrics, really pleasant to wear.
        Cancer Council has a small range but tries to be fashionable. It's mostly too loud for me but they do currently have some light purple stuff which has piqued my interest. It's great quality in my experience. It lasts, it cleans up well and it's designed for our conditions (much like Solbari) so it really works.

          @Buyer0fBargains: 👏👏👏 honestly, you should create a pinned post of information you wrote here. Very knowledgeable with current trends.

          I agree with bamboo body and 100% linen. Personally, I need to wash 100% linen clothing at least ten times before the fabric is comfortable enough.

          I have this blue linen long sleeve Uniqlo skipper shirt that is worn constantly all throughout the year. It doesn’t go all the way to my hands but is fashionable enough for my daughter and extended family not to complain about me wearing the Samsung thing pretty much every day!

          Glad you are on the mend. Trauma of any kind is an ongoing situation to deal with.
