        😂

      • +6

Superloop seems to have better deals

      • +17

        Rip off prices! Pass

        • 1419(ABB) vs 1248(superloop) for 1000Mbps
          Leaptel is cheapest 1188

        • +1

Their service isn't perfect but they take advanced users with non-standard setup seriously and they have competent staff located in Australia that you can actually get hold of relatively quickly. That's worth a couple of hundred a year to me.

          • +3

@syousef: I've heard this same comment from a lot of people, and I've seriously considered Aussie Broadband several times because of it.

I'm with iiNet, and the number of times I've called their support line with an issue with my internet, only to speak with someone with a very heavy Indian accent, asking if I've tried turning my router off and on again.

In my most recent call, the woman on the support line tried to convince me that I should disconnect all of my cat5e wired devices and reconnect them via WiFi, because "WiFi can reach speeds that far exceed wired connections".
While this may be theoretically true… The more devices I connect, and the distance I connect them from, would greatly affect those speeds.

        • Pronto have 100/20 59.00 first six months. Transfered recently regular speeds over 100/20 peak times. Use Superloop network

          • @Harrygw: Amazing deal, thanks, will give them a go! Unless anyone can steer me away from Pronto

      • +5

        LOL pass

      • Lmao. I'm paying $69/month for 50Mbit from Future BB, price hasn't changed since signing up in 2020.

        • +1

          69? Noice…

        • +1

Price hasn’t changed for you, but price on Future BB website is $85 for 50/16 for new customers.

        • +1

Me too. I must be a grandfather!
Oz support desk too. Very helpful, just need to remember they are on W.A. time.

          • @burp: Agree, they've been really helpful any time I needed help with relocating etc.

        • +1

100/20 from Exetel $75. Once the original discount expired ($10 from 85) they sent an offer to keep going. Not sure if it will ever expire.

Really happy except 30 day notice to leave - boo!

  • +3

Good timing, needed to churn out for a Month

  • +2

    Can't find address

    SOMETHING WENT WRONG
Refresh your page or call our call centre on 1300 880 905.

    • It's doing it to me too :/

    • yep

    • It's working now.

  • +11

Use our plan, get one month free! (Then will recover that and more in no time).

    • Unless you are a true ozbargainer and know what you’re doing.

  • +3

Doesn’t look like there is much of a saving
Using the standard 6 month churn

50/20 plan is 85/month one month free makes it about $70/mth on average
    100/20 plan is 95/month ~$79/month

    • +14

OzBargainers just churn at the end of the first month.

      • +1

So you just churn there for a free month and then churn out? Don't have to pay anything?

        • Of course. Is there any other way to churn?

          • +1

            @eccaz: Not if there's a 30 day notice.

            • @jimbler: Does ABB have a 30 day notice?

              • @eccaz: I couldnt fine one, Exetel just got me with theirs, so now i have to pay a bit extra for a month, this deal more then makes up for it then will move to Pronto!

    • Why wait 6 months to churn?

    • +3

TPG also has 1st month free, promo ending 02/07/2024
NBN100 ongoing rate is $80/mth. Might suit your better if you plan to stay more than one month.

Or just sign up to ABB for the first month, and then churn to TPG at the end of ABB first month.

      • +6

TPG is more like pay for 1 month and get the 2nd month free. TPG also need 30-days notice for cancellation.

The customer will be charged the first month plan fees and then offer will appear as a credit on the customer’s second invoice. After the second month, the minimum monthly spend is one month’s plan fees for your chosen nbn® plan. Modem is $99.95 on no lock-in contract or $0 on a 6-month contract. $10 modem delivery fee applies. If you are on a 6-month contract and cancel your plan before 6 months, you will be charged the early termination charge of $99.95. Minimum cost is one month’s plan fees plus $109.95.

        • +4

Thanks! I didn't spot this. You've saved me from the pitfall.

          • @CoronavirusVaccine: Superloop and Exetel (they're the same company) has 30-day notice thing, too.

Just using their NBN is good enough. But porting home phone number between Superloop and Exetel is a nightmare (they don't tell me it's impossible until I found out the hard way).

        • +1

I also read TPG gives you $100 credit to offset the cost of buying a router through a retailer. Might be useful to someone.

No idea what is the trap for this one.

  • Remind anyone with last 1 year $20 off 1000/50 trial, you can always change your plan back to 100/20 during the promo period, they will still give you $20 off.

    • +2

Which NBN retailer is going to waive this for you?

      • +2

        None.

    • All ISPs pass that onto you. Do you have FTTP sitting there unused?

        • +4

nbn FTTP speeds are faster than 5G.

        • +4

Which RSP is giving you unlimited 1gbit download speeds on 5G?

            • +2

@gowest: There should be no way youre having line issues with FTTP withoout something being wrong thats probably easily fixable.

            • @gowest: If you aren't getting advertised speeds on FTTP with AussieBB then you are doing something wrong. Speed testing on wireless N?

            • @gowest: You sounds like a person who doesn’t know shit but likes to blame others for their incompetence.

  • +3

Would love one day to see an ABB deal, "Existing customers Only" deal.

  • "Sorry, we’re unable to process an order to this address online. Please contact our Australian-based team about signing up on 1300 880 905."

Seem like if you had taken this deal before, even years ago, you are not eligible anymore.

    • Contact them through chat, see what's up.

      • Did that, they said to call the number. Last time when I did, the person on the phone said they can put through the order on the phone, but cannot offer 1 month free as it has previously been taken.

    • Same but haven't even enter the promo code yet

  • I've been on $65 50/20 plan with myrepunlic then
superloop now for years and don't seem to be able to get this price now. Do I need the extra speeed. Hmm

    • +1

That's still the standard intro price for most providers for the first 6 months although it's creeping up to $69/m now.

  • +3

Thank you for the code. I have signed up without any coupon code an hour before this deal.

Tried my luck with the live chat support team and my account has been credited with $95

  • +12

    $85 for a 50/20 plan is madness.

    • +1

      Everything there is madness.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Singed up, needed to churn out for a Month.

  • +11

ABB is overpriced these days. I signed up with Leaptel last month for a 100/20 NBN plan for $74.95/month for 12 months. No lock in contract either.

    • Agreed, switched from ABB to leaptel for about 6 months now and they've been great. ABB went to crap when they went public… I only switch to them for the free month only.

  • +1

25 Mbps rofl. Xfinity (USA) internet plans start at 150 Mbps for the slowest plan. AT&T internet offers speeds up to 5000 Mbps.

    • Nothing wrong with cheap internet if you're not gaming or streaming. That's who its for. Why not save some money?

25MBPs isn't meant to be generally available unless you're a senior though I think.

Frankly I'd be on it if I could be. At worst we stream 1080p x1 device and no other devices doing anything.

      • Wasn't 12 Mbps for seniors?

        • Yeah maybe, I forget. We're currently on faster nbn to trigger the upgrade (we couldn't hit above about 40 before.. and that was after replacing our house's internal copper (FTTC), due to being last house on a long node) and soon I'll be looking to downgrade to 50 maybe even 25 (I'm aware of the irony of not needing the upgrade if we go with 25, but pricing isn't great on 25 anyway IIRC so unlikely to happen).

      • Your meant "slow", not "cheap"

  • Do I need a specific router for nbn? First time getting internet and need to buy a router. I’m assuming the routers a lot of these companies sell are overpriced or a higher end model? I’m looking for basic 25/10 internet.
Would be cheaper to buy a basic router from JB?

    • +2

Really depends on the type of NBN connection you have but if you do buy your own router you can easily jump around ISP's

      • Thank you. I’ve got FTTN if that matters? I think I will do more research jump ISPs as you said.

        • I just meant you can change Internet service providers (ISP's) whenever you want if you have your own router. If you use wifi for everything in your house spend the money on a half decent one with good wifi speeds and mesh technology. Something like D-LINK EXO AX AX3200 MESH WI-FI 6 ROUTER. I got one of those on sale for $180 and it works well.

        • +1

The tech type matters. A router alone doesn't work on FTTN. Purchase a VDSL2 modem and router all-in-one for FTTN.

          • +1

@Twix: Good point. I thought this may be the case. I am on FTTP so not sure if that particular router will be suitable.

    • +1

check out TPG which provides first month free and $100 modem/router credit if you buy from retailers such as JB, amazon etc. $100 can get you nothing fancy but good enough.

      • Thank you. I think I don’t need anything fancy, I’ll definitely check out the $100 credit. I appreciate your help

      • +1

Don’t forget with TPG you need a router which supports VLAN tagging.

To be honest if you’re going with TPG just stick with their supplied router, it will work with most other providers and they’re pretty decent these days - certainly enough for 25/10.

        :)

        • TPG removed VLAN tags on new nbn services that don't have a bundled home phone.

          • @Twix: Finally! Any ideas when this happened?

  • Does aussiebb charge a port out fee for leaving before 12 months after the free nbn fibre upgrade?

    • +2

No they don't. You can swap ISP whenever.

  • Wish these guys had a speedboost option like superloop.

  • +1

What’s the best strategy on getting the 1 month without paying anything? What day to cancel on?

  • Any deals/offers for existing customers?

  • +1

"A ‘new customer’ is defined as an individual who has not had an active broadband service with Aussie Broadband in the last six months or hasn’t been an authorised contact, residing at the same address as the primary contact, on an active broadband service with Aussie Broadband in the last six months."

Not true. I used 1MONTHFREE 7 months ago, it won't let me use the code again. It says Promo/referral code invalid

    • showing invalid for me too, at an address that never had aussie bb — maybe the previous tenants had it :(

      • Call Aussie BB support and they should manually approve it.

    • If the promo code is not working on the website please try the following:
      - Refresh your browser
      - Clear your browser cache
      - Try another browser

If none of these things get the promo added you would need to call our Australian based sales team on 1300 880 905 (Option 1, then option 1 again) and they can sign you up with the promo code 🙂

      • I tried another browser, it works for me.

  • I think Aussie is maybe the only NBN provider that supports IPv6 for all customers which, frankly, is an appalling state of affairs and the other ISPs should be ashamed of themselves. FWIW, I'm still with TPG. I really want direct IPv6 instead of 6over4 tunnel, but I'm also a cheapskate :)

    • The irritating thing about TPG is that their network is perfectly capable of supporting IPv6, since I'm an Internode customer (closed to new customers) and despite being on the TPG network have full dual stack.

Most RSPs that aren't TPG brands or Optus have IPv6 either on by default or as a setting in their control panels.

FWIW, I'm still with TPG. I really want direct IPv6 instead of 6over4 tunnel, but I'm also a cheapskate :)

Depending on what speed/technology you're on, compare prices with people like Superloop/Exetel and Leaptel, who both provide IPv6 and have competitive pricing.

      • Ah thanks, that's interesting. I found some stuff on reddit/whirlpool about Exetel supporting IPv6, but couldn't spot anything on their site. Same with Superloop: posts on reddit/whirlpool that seem promising, yet the only result for "IPv6" search on their support site was in relation to CG NAT:

Globally, the pool of available IPv4 addresses will soon be exhausted, so Superloop has chosen to use CG-NAT as a way to share the limited supply of public IPv4 addresses ahead of full deployment of IPv6.

Leaptel FAQ has this, which is fairly non-committal:

IPv6 is still being deployed across the internet and we are working hard to enable our network to be IPv6 enabled soon. However there are a number of issues that we need to address on our network as well as the manufacturers of modem/routers located in peoples homes such as yours, in order for it to work successfully.

We hope to have more news on this soon.

I wish they would just be more up-front about this stuff.

  • How does this work? If i only want to avail the 1 month free, how do I cancel this? Do they need a few days notice?
