General consensus is these will get stick drift eventually but will depend on how used the controller is and a bit of luck. The haptic feedback for select games, even on PC, is pretty cool so that is one consideration for purchasing them as well. I typically find the XBOX controller is better supported on PC though Playstation controller support is getting better. If you go the Dualsense Edge route (for the eye watering price) you can replace the sticks should they get drift though there are repairs you can do to replace the sticks should they get drift on the base controller..
Good to know since 100% of my gaming is on pc and Steam.

Any controller not halleffect (even theyre not technically immune to it) CAN have drift.. But I've never personally had drift issues with any PS controllers, but I also don't play 100hrs a week on my Playstations (PS2/3/4/5 throughout the years).
It's subjective whether it's 'better' than xbox wireless.
Reminder Xbox layouts tend to be more common in PC games, if that's what youre getting it for - so steam mapping etc sometimes required for PS controllers.
I personally prefer the design/shape of the PS5 controller - I think it's basically perfect shape at least for my hands (medium-large male hands)
I got some cheap GameSir halleffect controllers and I swear im still getting drift. So annoying! Do you think this is a bump up from the traditional xbox wireless controllers? Xbox wireless controllers have been around for more than a decade right?

Do you notice the drift at power on? or even in the middle of gaming session? Sticks sometimes need to be calibrated every power on by spinning the stick at the extremities one rotation. You shouldn't get drift after that on hall effect.

Do you have a source for "hall effect are not technically immune"? My understanding is that they are because hall effect use magnetism non-contact moving parts, unlike conventional potentiometers. Pots rub a thin piece of metal every time the analogs are used. The metal gets thinner and thinner which throws out the reading of the pot. This is seen in the game as drift.
Dunno how many hours these controllers are getting, but I had to use the same controller for hours a day every day before I experienced drift. I don't game that long anymore.
So when I say not technically immune, it's because there are still other components that can wear over time + considerations of calibration/vibration etc issues from external factors can play a part here as well as actual construction of the units..

And anecdotal evidence online suggests that some still have issues (checkup on reddit for this - it may not directly be related to the magnetic mechanism itself, though).
Both controllers can develop stick drift since they’re still based on potentiometers, but the PS5 has an overall better feature set (gyro, HD haptics, adaptive triggers, light bar), even if the battery life is a bit too short for longer gaming sessions.
Although I have never encountered stick drift on the controller, but I have had stick drift in the software itself.

@Robot JP: Those special edition never goes on sale, cos scalpers. for a small market like Australia, we only get small amount of supply. You like it, you pay full either on preorder or launch day. Once they gone, you know where to find (marketplace/eBay/Gumtree etc.)

Says a lot about these sorts of businesses when you go to search for a 256gb Switch 2 card, RRP is 80, and they have it for 88 mysteriously while this promotion is on. Lame.
The Gamesmen eBay Store is usually more expensive than their actual site as they also factor delivery into the cost (so they can offer 'free delivery').
But there has been cases where they have jacked up the price to accommodate coupon code.
Just different platforms thing. As an ozbargainer, only buy from them when there is a deal, who cares 80,88 cos on a deal it's 50. Just an example.

The code was glitching on me earlier, it said 66.50 on eBay checkout but changed to 90 in PayPal.

Hello, just wanted to share I actually managed to get this price-matched on Amazon.
I simply told an agent that eBay had the Chrome Pearl variant listed at $66.50 and wanted to price match, I was subsequently provided with $15.5 in account credit.

After looking at the remaining colour options on eBay plus I thought I’d try my luck on Amazon. I put the white ps5 controller in my cart (their sales price is $82) and went through to their customer chat.
