Awesome staple G-Shock, usually around $135.

The U model is also the newer 2021 version with DD-MM (vs 2009 older model).

Would girls run away from you for wearing this?

    • +18

I hope so, need a break from them chasing me down now I'm wearing my Kmart Green Sneakers.

    • +3

I think they'd be too stunned by the concept of a wrist device that simply tells the time

    • +1

Girls definitely would but you might get elderly ladies tho.

    • +1

      but their mom won't.

    • +2

      The good ones won't.

I kind of was hoping for purple black gsquad sub $200 , again left disappointed

Amazon product features: Total USB 2.0 Ports 2

    • +1

Ha Amazon specs are shocking, never trust them.

  • I'm a bit skeptical about this deal because all of the listing images show a DW5600 which has neither solar nor world time features.

    • +1

I bought it the last time it was on sale at Amazon. Can confirm that mine has the solar power and world time functions (U model as per above comment). There was also a review on the page that also confirmed the model and features.

    • +1

      I trust the model number.

I see a 8OFF60APP $8 off code, should be targeted (limited eligible items too).

  • +1

    This thing is indestructible

  • Is there a casio with bigger case ?

    • Yes this model is small for a G-Shock, or do you mean a bigger one similar to this square shape?

      • Yes Watch need. Same shape but a little decent sized you know. I was thinking AE1300WH might be but that lookish

        • +1

That's a resin lens & not much wider but if you can get it under $50ish it's not a bad price.

If you want something really cheap the Skmei 1134 comes to mind. It's a chunky 51mm wide.

White positive display is US$7.70 + GST

I bought this about 7 years ago & it's still running on the same battery. No world time though.

@WatchNerd: Damn looks good for 10 bucks

            • +1

@life is suffering: Here's a pic of it on my 7" wrist.
The Skmei 1628 is a newer model which is the same size as the Casio. Member @Jimothy Wongingtons has this one.

              • @WatchNerd: Looks bigger than the G-Shock square, unless that.s not 7 inches hehe.

Watches always look bigger in photos though.

                • @G-rig: Probably just under 7 inches haha. But it does look bigger in the picture. I will buy the 1628 soon because the strap cracked & broke off on the 1134. More cost effective.

                  • @WatchNerd: i wouldn't mind another half an inch or so, hehe

Yes I find it pretty hard to photograph a watch on wrist, angles etc make them look bigger etc.

Those DW-9052 wear pretty well, wish the DW-6900 had the same strap that drops down (instead of splaying out so much). A good hack is a G5600 strap, makes it better).

                • @G-rig: Lol yeah I think wrist might be okay but when you compare to whole body 👅

      • +1

I use to have a GD-350, big and square shaped. The negative display is very legible, even more so than this positive display G5600.

        • Yeah the display digits is a great size, I have the GD-350-8 positive display with awesome two-tone backlight, one of the rare G-Shock with vibrate alert (world time handy too). Looks tough as and actually wears better than DW-6900 as the strap points/hinges down.

      @life is suffering
Look at ever GDB200 - bit of a bigger square, MIPS display, Bluetooth (but non-solar). Can go from $136-150 on sale.

I think the GX56 is one of their bigger ones.

No clue what a good price for one is though.

  • only intrested in MRG now, got all collections and never wear them, now just apple watch, found helpful to prevent me keep collect G Shock…..

  • Don’t mind the decent price — 90% were open-box, unworn, and I put them under the sun every day. They all ranged between $1,200 and $4,000. I sold a dozen brand new back in the day; I had 6 Frogman and sold 5 of the same model. Collecting them really gets addictive, especially once you eventually set your sights on the MRG

    • Frogman have gone up in price, should have got a 30th anniversary when they were $750.

Agree it's not worth having too many, maintaining solar batteries is getting annoying. Having to consistently put them in the sun is tedious when don't have a bright room. Need to do more of a cull but the cheap classics are cheap enough.

  • I don't need another watch… but… can't stop myself…

    • This is really the only one you'd need in theory.
I'd choose it for a zombie apocalypse..

I wear one of these every day at work, in the dirt, under floors, in roofs, reaching down between the ute seats when I drop my french fies. Strong as an ox!

  • Ha, i actually just bought this. very happy with it! g-5600ue. agree amazon specs often wrong but they sent me correct model no.

  • This, or the gwm5610u?

    • both good - I'd get gwm5610u but I think you'll find it's more like $180
It's the closest to the original (JP) release and i like the red. Otherwise the white is great for $130 (then non-solar for about $100).

      • +1

Yeah fair point, thanks for the input. I will wait for a sale on the 5610U then..
I decided to sell the smartwatch and recently got a GA2100 but the end goal is a square..

The interwebs make it hard! The 5000R and the 5000U looks superb, but probably not justified for a first square.

        • True, I'd recommend the white or red solar and wear that to death. I ended up getting a 5000R as it's a pure release most close to the original.

You could look at it that way, an everyday (beater to be even) and one good one!
