OK I know its not terribly "bargainy" but they stopped making my favourite ice-cream.
I can't stand the commercial brands and I am having withdrawal symptoms.
Can anyone suggest a good brand/price.
I need one with a compressor where the mix does not need prerefrigeration.
I am more the "ice-cream now" type of person if that helps.

Home-made Ice cream isn't anything like commercial Ice cream unless you're prepared to pay ~$5000 (or more, this is purely a guess) for a commercial-Kitchen grade machine.
Home units even the refrigerated ones can only freeze and stir.
Commercial ice-cream is whipped, that's why they sell it in Litres, not in Kg… 1L of Ice cream can weigh anything from 500g (Cheap) to 800g (Luxury Brands) depending on how much air has been whipped in.
My brief investigation last year suggested $500+ for ones that avoid the pre-freeze bowls.
That's a fair bit of Ben & Jerry's so I gave up, but I'd be interested in any less costly alternatives too.
