  • anyone receive their free iphone 5 screen protector from banggood?

    • I received my Quadcopter, havin heaps of fun ! :)

  • received mine from last purchase and its actually pretty good.
getting spares for the rest of the family.

    • Are you just using a AA battery ?

      • I just whacked a duracell in mine , lights up my whole yard, no idea how long it would last for though.

      • one single AA… does me wonders. the beam is actually visible a night which is a bonus.

  • At first, I thought it was jedi's light saber

  • Newbie question - Can you use any AA battery with this, or does it require an alkaline AA?

    • +1

You can use any AA that gives more than about 0.9V. I found that is about the point where it simply won't work. The light output stays pretty strong down to about 1.1V, so NiMH rechargables work OK.

      • how long would an alkaline AA last in one of these ?

        • until it leaks and you will need to get a new torch.

        • +1

how long would an alkaline AA last in one of these

Not sure, maybe 1 hour or 2. They pull a shedload of current from the battery.

I have 2 of the Q3 (older version) from Meritline and FocalPrice, and they only get used occasionally. I guess I change batteries once per month. I've never tried running one continuously until it went flat.

They are just so bright for something so small and cheap, that's the attraction.

        • +3

Still, don't forget that you can run one straight off a Death Star simply by using a step-down transformer and a plugpack.

Or of course you can just use…The Force.

In lieu of Glitter Eneloops, of course, Jedi OzBargainers I'm sure do thusly endorse.

  • Has anyone been able to compare the Tmart Cree Q3 and the Banggood Cree Q5 yet? (I'm still waiting for my Tmart one.)

    • hopefully q5 is brighter :)

  • could somebody please explain how these are so cheap?
these things get so much love from ozbargain alongside eneloops, but can someone please explain how these have the same lumen output as torches like ledlenser and etc but are SO cheap?

    • unregulated circuits.

  • theres a 1000 lumen torch here:
    http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Ultrafire-CREE-XM-L-T6-100…

has anyone seen the difference between 1000lumens and 300lumens? I bought a 250 or so lumens from bunnings the other day and it isnt that bright…

was wondering if its worth the extra cash to jump to 1000lumens?

sorry I dont have much knowledge on torches.

  • Who let the dogs out?

    • +1

I think the OP has just the one. Just the one blinded doggy.

    • That is a Q3 not Q5. Q5 is a little brighter and more power efficient

      http://flashlightwiki.com/Cree

      • +1

no it's the same as this deal, a q5 not q3

        • I stand corrected

  • Bought one last time. Got delivered in about 2 weeks.
Amazing brightness considering size and AA battery. I am not an expert but this is about 20x brighter that massive 6V battery I use to carry around in my car.
All metal construction seems to be descent quality and pull/push zoom is pretty good and fast. (compared to some torches that require a lot of turning for zoom function.

I am getting another one as for $5 it is really bargain.

    • +3

All metal construction seems to be descent quality …

Can confirm. I walked down a flight of stairs with mine once and it survived the journey unscathed.

      • +1

I used mine while in an elevator, can confirm as well. Descent quality.

        • +1

          PonyTableTennis. The ideal elevator sport.

Anyone who think they are bright on a AA should see what they are like with a 14500, about double the light output visually :)
They are a bargain at the price.

    • How hot will it get though? A lot of mini torches get too hot to touch after only a few minutes, making them useless.

    • I was actually thinking of trying mine with 14500 battery but too much of hassle as AA outputs more than enough light for my needs and are more readily available.

  • +1

    Looks like a lightsaber

  • If anyone feels like purchasing this, This coupon should still work.
    5% off with SPRINGU

  • This looks to be the same torch except in black but cheaper at $4.50

  • I bought one last time, very useful if you live in a double story house, saves you having to flipping the light switches all the time.
