  • I'm using Virgin Mobile - $39/month but if you use your own phone, you save $10/month = $29/month. $450 credit to use per month with international calls included in the cap.

Been using it for the past 2 years with no issues. They send you a text when you are nearing your credit limit plus any unused credit gets rolled over to the next month (but I think it's only for one month then the unused credits expire the month after) which has saved me from getting a big bill a couple of times ;)

I am in the same boat: my contract with Telstra has finished, and am looking at new plan.

A friend recommends TPG. $18 for $550 value etc. I have not done my research but will be delighted if someone who has used them can share their views.

  • I was on the same 3 plan as yours which ended two weeks ago and I switched to TPG Super Value Starter Plan $9.99 that included the same value (includes interational calls) as the 3 plan. I can check my usuage online and no unusual charges so far.

Please note that they charge $20 deposit and $20 for the SIM so you will be charged $49.99 first month. No handset on this plan. No contract terms.

You may want to check the plans out at http://www.tpg.com.au/mobile/plans.php

Just like what Pumpkin_rrr said, you can also get the $17.99 plan which included $550 value but I don't use that much so I get the $9.99 one.

    Cheers.

  • Cap plans from Virgin and Vodafone include international calls

  • My daughter has been with tpg for 2 years now..only on $9.99 plan..so a light user, but she says they are fine. Can't comment of their data speed though..she doesn't utilize the Internet with the plan.

The only issue I have (as mum, and bill-payer) is that each time you change the plan, i.e. down to $1 per month plan when daughter misplaces phone :-/ you have to disable voicemail. And if you don't disconnect voicemail there is a charge to the account when someone calls and it goes to voicemail…even if they don't leave a message. They call it voicemail deposit. It comes out of your cap..but it can add up if you're away from the phone and have a lot of missed calls. They may have changed this since, (realized this was happening about 4 months back)…..don't usually have the voicemail, not my preference..but it's a standard that is reactivated every time you change plans (back jan/feb anyway this was the case..)
