good desktop replacement.? Main user is my teenage son who does music editing using Ableton software and occasional Counterstrike play

It will be fine for old counter strike, but not so much for the new one.

It's OK. The system requirements for audio production (in general) are quite modest, meaning that any computer you buy will most probably run Ableton Live 9 without problems.

For Counterstrike (newest edition) gameplay, you'll probaby need to look into installing a medium end graphics card — like a Radeon 7770HD or GTX650.

The problem with that Dell is a) small chassis may limit future upgrades for HDD/SSD and b) power supply can be limiting since they only provide at most, a 350 watt PSU.
