Monitor Desk Mount $30 (and More Specials) at Aldi (Sale Starts Today, 27 April 2013)

670

Thinking of picking one of these monitor mounts today.
A good deal compared to getting a similar thing in from Amazon, which start at double the price.

The Portable Laptop Table seems like a good idea too. It sells for $30 as well.

Thanks to another post here, those TP-LINK powerline adapters are on sale today and I'm interested in those too. Aldi have a good set of sale items this week, in my opinion.

Anyway, enjoy the deals.

      • Thanks, a bit low for what I need :(.

  • I've set up the desk mount and it's all good and sturdy except at the VESA ball joint. So the monitor just sags all the way downwards and a bit to the side. Am I missing something? Its a 23" but hardly too heavy. Is there a way to secure it?

As has been said here twice before you have to get a wrench out and tighten it using as much strength as you can muster.

      • I took the measured approach; just enough to be able to tilt it easily without sag. It all depends on what you want; stationary rock or easy-tilt.
        :-)

I bought two this morning - I have twin 24" screens on my desk.

I set them up, it's all good except for those stupid ball joints that everyone else has mentioned.

I unscrewed the VESA mounts from the screens, then used a ratchet + correct sized socket to tighten the bolt at the back of the VESA mount. One mount was easy, the other VESA mount I dismantled as the bolt seemed a bit cross-threaded. Once I reattached and tightened with the ratchet it's a lot more stable.

Both mounts and screens are now fine, but it took a good hour of fiddling and tightening!

Here's a crappy photo of what it looks like installed (I haven't bothered with cable management yet!).

    • EDIT - Went back and bought a 3rd for the kids computer. That one had a fault (the screws in the VESA mount wouldn't unscrew, dammit - someone else had the same issue, it's earlier in this thread). Took it back for replacement, which worked fine :)

      • I had similar problem on my second unit, which has a screw won't tight up so the VESA mount can not hold position at all. Lucky my local ALDI has plenty stock so swapped for another.

  • Picked up 3 (the last 3 out in the store) from Aldi in Prahran, Victoria.

Will give them a shot later on, will try them on my older Dell 2405FPW and newer Dell U2711

Just picked up the last one in Nth Sydney before an Ozbargainer (guess) nabbed the remaining two in front of me.

  • Good guess gimme, that would have been me :-)

Also got 3 at Chatswood this morning (1 left, I couldn't carry it).

Need to setup 5 for a charity, so great deal for them.

Same issue with the screws in the Vesa mount on the first one I tried.. can't get them out.
Also many screws left over after assembly.

    • "screws in the Vesa mount on the first one I tried.. can't get them out."

I just bought two of them. I really do not have time to assemble them right now.
Would you kindly explain what did you mean by the screws in the vesa mount would not come out?
Maybe a picture would be better.

I will have to set these up on next week or so. Just wanted to confirm if mine has the same issue or not.

      • Used a power drill lol.

  • LOL I thought so.
PS: Bastard I couldn't get any at Chatswood that's why I had to drive to Nth sydney.

  • Picked up 3 today assuming my monitors were VESA mountable. I was wrong and those are going back to aldi tomorrow completely unopened.

  • Would you guys reckon I'd still have a chance of picking one up from the Rosehill store?

  • Baulkham hills store have none left.

Winston Hills Aldi have 5 left after i bought 2. Right up the back in the middle of the store

  • Went to Box Hill South Aldi and picked up 1 this morning. Still had around 5 left.

  • Picked up the last 2 at Aldi in the Melbourne CBD (Franklin Street) still had a few TP-Link TL-WR841NDs left but no powerline kits I could see.

    • In the 2 stores I visited, I was told the powerline kits needed to be asked for at the checkouts. Then they proceed to get one out from the storeroom. They didn't have any on display (in a glass cabinet or otherwise).

  • I want to buy this, but our family computer's monitor is a 32 inch Samsung TV. Any ideas guys?

    • The box says it is suitable for monitors weighing up to 15kg and my 27" monitor only weighs 5kg so I put it on and it clears the desk by a maximum of 12cm more than high enough for me.

  • Can somebody measure the depth needed (how deep the clamp goes into the desk horizontally under it as beautifully illustrated here: http://i.imgur.com/WPVNxUK.png)?

My desk has very little room there so I'm not sure if it'll fit the clamp.

    • 97mm deep (give or take 1mm or so).
But that includes the ~4.5mm thick metal of the clamp projecting past the edge of the table.
So probably 92-93mm of actual top table depth used.

But you don't have to push the clamp it all the way in against the table's edge (the air gap between clamp and edge of table can be 20mm+ or so and that can still be rock-solid stable).

The reason is that the bottom metal plate that presses against the underside of the table only starts at about 15mm away from the (inner) edge of the clamp, so you can have the clamp stick out a fair bit and not pushed all the way in against the table's edge and still get a perfectly secure mount.

If in doubt, visit a store and measure the display model that someone has inevitably opened, but I think what I've written here is pretty accurate. I hope that helps.

  • 8 left @ Maroubra

  • Heaps left at Echuca Aldi, a whole lot of TP-Link power line kits also.

  • ALdi Menai still have a heap of the excellent screen desk mounts.
