Printer Toner Cartridges?

Does anyone know if generic toner cartridges works as well as genuine ones

I have one of those cheap brother mono laser printers and its out of ink…

I thought of getting a new printer which is like 50 bucks but they only have starter ink (700pages) compared with 2500 pages from a normal cartridge

genuine toner cartidges are 70-100 whilst generic ones on ebay are like 20 bucks…

anyone have any experience with generic toners?

Thanks

I use them in my FujiXerox laser and they are fine. Cannot notice any difference to the originals.

I bought mine off ebay from Magic_pro123

I have nothing to do with that seller for clarity, I am just a happy customer of theirs.

    • thanks.. might give the generic a try then if difference is hardly noticable

    • Thanks, they have toner for my Brother HL-4150CDN cheaper than I'd priced elsewhere. I'll give them a go when I need to stock up.

  • i also have a fuji xerox and used ebay for a generic. Saved heaps and cant notice any difference in quality.

  • I have a 13 year old Brother laser printer (HL-1250) that I am still using and have gone through quite a few TN-6600's (rated at 6000 pages). I have bought both the genuine Brother cartridge and compatible ones. Compatible ones are usually half the price of the genuine Brother cartridge.

I do find the genuine ones are generally better, and last longer as well. I have one or two "compatible" ones died on me half way through their expected life. Mechanical fail not just running out of ink.

    anyway. YMMV.

  • This might be helpful to you but I also have a Brother printer (don't think it's laser but it prints..). Buying the genuine ink from Officeworks kills me a bit inside every time!! Until recently my dad found ink at a news agency (Tatts or whatever it's called) and they're $3.95!! I swear there seems to be no difference from my eyes. I have been getting my ink there ever since, I've been to a few news agencies around my area and they all have it so maybe they're every where? Sorry if this doesn't help.

  • I have the brother mono laser printer.

I bought one of the cheap inks from ebay, because I got sick of paying $70 to refill it.

At first it was no different, but it has gotten a bit grainy after 6 months, and gets a bit of a tiny blob here and there. Still quite usable, as long as you aren't printing something that needs to be perfect. I mainly use it for lecture notes and such.

    • a lot of china carts are refilled old toners so its luck of the draw - this can be an issue with the drum/conductor is a part of the toner car

      but hey… <$20 beats $70 any day

for most household purposes the slight lack of quality is fine
