  • Which Coles (town/state) was this at?

        Australia Wide?

        • -1

          should be

        • Seems unlikely.

No reports from any other Coles yet. Sign in the photo looks unofficial.

  • +1

i don't see it in the new catalogue, i'd say it's probably a store-specific thing.

    • +1

It's probably because the new 220g blocks are replacing these 200g ones…

      • -1

they are getting smaller again, didnt they just go down in size a year or two ago when they went with the cardboard packaging?

        • +2

220g is more than 200g though? So they are getting bigger you mean?

        • o yeah, so they are going back to their original size? just mixed up the size difference and got them round the other way. everything these days seems to be getting smaller and costing more, thought it was happening again. whoops

        • Cadbury really did a number on their chocolate blocks.

They downsized from 250gm to 200gm.

Then they changed the formulae on some of the chocolate and got a big backlash.

          Then reverted to old formulae.

Now going back up to 220gm?

  • +4

Big W is also clearing out these blocks of chocolate.

Cadbury have released new packaging with "10% more joy", meaning you get an extra 10% of the original 200g block.

They are now wrapped in a kind of foil packaging which you can reseal from the back. Groovy. Do people still say that word?

    • +8

apparently they do, which is pretty outta sight brother!

      • +1

        In fact it's a gas!

    • +13

Cadbury have released new packaging with "10% more joy",

When they dropped them from 250g to 200g without dropping the price, did they advertise it as :

      "20% less joy"

      • +5

I think they framed it as something more positive, like "20% more greed"

Not to mention the time they switched to compound chocolate, using vegetable shortening instead of cocoa butter.

        • i thought it was palm oil? they quickly switched back after the backlash though.

I also remember waaaay back when it went from 200g to 250g, and their "glass and a half of full cream dairy milk in every 200 gram block" slogan got cut short to "glass and a half of full cream dairy milk in every 200 grams" and it always felt weird, like they hadn't finished their sentence.

      • +2

Do I get a refund if I didn't receive any joy?

    • Which Big W

  • only when it relates to Chocolate

  • Looks like just Dairy Milk (plain) and Old Gold Roast Almond in the picture. Can you outline what other flavours there were? Thanks.

    • also had:
      Fruit and nut's
      rocky road
and staff had a bag (50 blocks)of peppermint behind the counter

      • +16

Behind the counter of course because peppermint is age restricted. Think of the children.

  • is there a special on clearasil ?

    • Chocolate does not cause acne.

      • -1

No, it causes shit that will come back and bite you later in life.

    • June 2014

  • +2

    2 for $6 in Knox.

    • +6

So 50 upvotes for another deal that only applies to one store in the whole country…

      • +1

Many people here don't know how to use negative and positive votes correctly

  • To elaborate further on what has been aluded to, the product size has increased by 10% (E.g 200g Dairy Milk is now 220g). The packaging has also changed. Because of this, you should expect clearance markdowns of the previous stock, right across the country at all major retailers. There's nothing wrong with the previous product, it simply isn't made by Cadbury any more.
I say this as a Woolworths employee.

      • +2

I think you've either misread or misinterpreted my post. What I meant to say, was that Cadbury is no longer manufacturing the ~200g varieties and have instead increased the product size by 10%.

        • -6

Oh I got ya now.. When do you think they will go back to the 200g varieties? They taste the best imo

  • +2

Not in Fremantle WA still $4odd or 2 for 6 I scanned the product to check
Great deal for those that can get it

  • +1

No such deals at Coles Raine Square or Woolworths St Georges Tce in Perth CBD at lunch time today. Coles still had the 200g blocks on the shelf at their regular price. Woolworths had swapped out the 200g stock for the newly packaged 220g blocks but there were no 200g blocks with old packaging anywhere in the store that I could see. They had plenty on the shelf earlier this week so my guess is they're in a box out the back somewhere.

  • Not available at Footscray store.
I found some of the 200g blocks and took them to the checkout, but it scanned at over $4. NO DEAL!

  • +1

    No deal here either.

  • +1

Has to be store specific, no deal at Stanhope Gardens or North Rocks

  • I recently bought a block of plain Cadbury and it had no flavour, honestly it was terrible. I'm not sure I'd even buy it again for a buck. Cadbury might be better off to stop fuzzing around with the packaging and sizing and concentrate on making it taste better again. I don't know what's changed but it was off.

  • I noticed on the weekend big w at Browns Plains QLD were clearing out the Whittaker's brand 250g blocks to make way for the new 220g.

I stopped buying Cadbury blocks when they started using palm oil. I know they stopped using it with the backlash but the whole downsizing (disguised by a new cardboard wrapper) also bothered me, though not as much as the environmental impact.

    • the cardboard wrapper is a lot more environmental friendly than the glossy paper they used to be wrapped in.

  • +1

I think OP should buy the whole $1 Cadbury Special at his specific Coles to be distributed here. We are Ozbargain. We never forget. We never forgive.

  • in sydney? bankstown or roselands? will go for the rare choc fix
    seems like half price

  • +1

Thought this was available at all Coles stores, since it's not, no positive vote from me :-(
