Broken Samsung Galaxy S3 screen

My partners Galaxy S3 has cracked and needs to be fixed.

Has anyone gone through fixing the screen? Where could I get a replacement that won't cost $300?

Cheers!

Front housing (digitizer/glas/lcd) is $142 on aliexpress.

If lcd still works it may be possible to replace the glass around $20-$30 on eBay

Thanks buddy, I'll check with her to see whether the lcd/digitizer is OK.

I didn't know it was possible to separate the glass so hopefully this may be an option! Learn something new every day :P

      • if you're buying the glass then make sure it has the digitizer on it.

ifixit.com states that the glass and LCD can be seperated. though tricky. it may be that they are glued together around the edge and a hot air gun is required to soften the glue and then a razor to cut.

        research it.

There is a shop in Westfield Woden outside Big W (towards david jones entrance) that does screen repairs, not sure of cost there.

Also in woden, there is one across the street from the main entrance to westfield on Corinna St, also not sure of the price but it might be worth going to both if you're in the woden area and trying to negotiate a price (they are usually quite willing to negotiate). If it's still too high for your liking, you can try and fix it yourself like altomic said :)

    Good luck.
P.s. good to see another canberran! Woohoo roundabouts!

  • Did you end up getting it fixed in Canberra? Was wondering how much it was & where? Best I can find so far is $280 at the marketplace in Gungahlin.
