Two of my brothers and myself are going to buy our mother a camera for mothers day as her last one got wet and doesn't work.
We have thrown around some ideas, it should be a basic point and shoot and use AA batteries. Also a optical view finder would be a bonus.
There isn't enough time to buy something online and Big W and DSE don't seem to have many options.
Can anyone give me some advice on a new camera that might fit the requirements?

It doesn't need to be waterproof, she should know better than to use another in in the rain again.

trouble is you won't be able to find these new in store are they're discontinued model. also, if you're planning on buying from them, make sure they'd be able to deliver by mother's day (ask for express shipping etc.)
however, in my opinion, you can get so much better cameras at the same price (if not cheaper) albeit with li-ion rechargeable batteries and no viewfinder.

Near impossible to find ones that take aa batteries and have a viewfinder these days. The viewfinder was great.. i have a canon 8m with one and is the easy answer to bright day shots.
