  • has anyone tried this ?

    "ginger-infused Lager."

is it a real ginger beer, or a lager with flavour added ???

    • +1

Bluetongue don't make any particularly flavoursome beers (tried the entire range at their brew bar in the Hunter Valley). This beer tastes like a light beer with some sort of sweet gingery syrup added. I'm sure they actually do brew it with some technique, but I wouldn't drink it if it was given to me.

  • +1

Yes, there ARE reviews on the DM site. Overall rating is 2.3/5

    • They did not display when I looked

"This so called infused ginger beer should be taken off the market , it is the biggest con ever placed on to the market i would not recommended it too any one .If i could get my money back i would!"

        doesn't sound like a bargain…

        • +3

Subjective much? $47 to $35 i'd call that a bargain no matter if you like it or not.

        • Subjective much?

When most reviewers post the same thing, maybe it's not that subjective.

So you'd pay $35 to drink something that tastes like dishwater…

          Go for it…

        • +1

Just like chicken feet is disgusting to some people. A bargain is a bargain

      • "I bought a six pack to try it out and I found it hard to finish them all. Very watery and bitter taste without hint of ginger as far as I could taste. Wouldn't recommend at all."

      • "Didnt like this at all, thought it had watery taste and what taste their was, wasnt good."
        Pros: none
        Cons: yuk

      • "On a bit of a ginger beer kick at the moment, and trying all on the market.
Blue tongue has to be one of the worst i have tasted to date.
Gritty and bitter, with a horrible spicy aftertaste, and little to no hint of ginger.
can not recommend this one to gb lovers."

      • "Cheap and nasty.
Bluetongue has a reputation as producing some great, innovative new beers. But this is a disgraceful offering.
Extremely weak in flavour, tasting like something left over after washing the dishes.
Avoid. There are simply too many other outstanding ginger beers available for you to waste your time here."

      • This is a weak larger with a tiny drop of ginger added. I love beer and I love ginger beer, this however is neither. What little flavour it has is completely disgusting. I wasted $45 on a slab of this that I tipped down the drain.

LOL JV it was add block that didn't display the reviews, Can see them now

        • It would have been a good deal if the reviews were a bit more positive…

        • Their normal larger is alright.

        • Their normal larger is alright.

Yep, their Pilsner too, shame about this though…

  • got to do better than that for me to bite

  • +1

I've had this before - definitely wouldn't recommend it.

  • +3

I've still got a bad taste in my mouth from the old crow bourbon ozbargain. Order was cancelled and I still haven't got a refund!!

  • Tried once a few years ago. Yuck!!

  • Same bought a 6 pack on special a few months ago, and still can't bring myself to drink the last three - worst alcoholic ginger beer I have tried!

  • I don't mind Bluetongue, it's more beery than gingery IMHO. If you like both real beer & ginger beer, you'll like it…just don't expect it to be as soft drink like as per Crabbies etc.

    Girly-girls expecting lolly-water best give it a miss… :p

  • I much prefer the soft drink style ginger beers like Crabbies. Is there a better soft drinky one than Crabbies anyway?

  • I don't like the bottled Bluetongue. It had more of a ginger kick years ago when you could only get it on tap at The Brewery in Newcastle. The on tap stuff now is really watery, like the bottled stuff, don't waste your time.

  • Dan Murphy will send you one bottle instead of a case claim it was a pricing error and not refund your money, stay away.

  • +1

Forget everything you know about ginger beer.

Done… But now I have no idea what you are trying to sell me…

  • This is a horrible substance. Its like 1 standard per bottle so takes a while to tickle. And its not ginger beer, its not beer, its ginger flavored beer so really you drink it expecting something like a bundaberg ginger beer and what you get is horrid.

  • +1

"Forget everything you know about ginger beer. Bluetongue Ginger Beer is.. unique"

I can't help but think this drink must be trollop when I read marketing fail like that.

  • I have tasted Bluetongue beer, it tasted horrible.

  • I would recommend people try Lick Pier Ginger beer, its my fav. But is not too common to come across, got mine in St.Kilda boozeshop.

I'm still to try hollows and 1 more, cant remember its name.
Its good to see a good range of ginger beers being available in OZ. Shame some cost $6 or so thou.
Anyone tried Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur? (avail @ DM) goes great with a good apple juice on ice or even Charlie's apple & ginger juice.

    Cheers,

    • Sorry, I meant Cawson's (Ww) apple & ginger juice,not Charlies.
