are you sure it has a hd tuner inbuilt?

      Yes.

Can anyone find more information on this television? I couldn't see it on the brochure. If this is what it seems, it's a very good deal.

    Great Price! Fantastic Bargain!

It's in the WA brochure, sounds good but has anyone heard of that brand?

  • +1

Does anyone know if it has a headphone socket?

    • +1

yep it has one, it also has a pc-audio output
for when it is in pc mode
The default speakers are very tinny, so i plugged some pc speakers into the headphone socket and it sounds ok.
Other than that it is pretty small ;)

    None in Albany Coles:(
Rang them and they said they did have some but were sold before 9am, when I got there. They might get more……………

Rang them and they said they did have some but were sold before 9am, when
      I got there.

      That's a lie.

They didn't get shipment at all.

I have confirmed this with Coles. None of the stores got shipment for this from their suppliers.

      • I bought one from The Glen last night. They held it for me, but it sounded like a few more were available. Brandon Park sold out (of their 3) on the first day.

Seems like oo.com.au also has a 20" unit going at $289, without the HD tuner and DVS player though.

  • You gotta be kidding. Who would trust a friggin' battery radio from coles much less an LCD that's going to see everyday use?

"MXT", oh now that's a reassuring brand. Even at $1 this isn't a bargain. It's a surefire waste of money 6 months later after it just dies.

    • +1

      No.

ALL of the brands we reckon we know are made by the same Chinese factories.

There are only FOUR (count them, FOUR) manufacturers of LCD's in the world.

So, you are getting the same thing as an AWA from BigW, or a Soniq from JB-HIFI.

As long as it's made in China, it can fail.

      It's all the same.

Apart from Sony, which is still made in Japan.

COLES ERINA (NSW, Postcode: 2250) didn't get a shipment AT ALL.

And it's not an "excluded store".

I wrote a letter of complaint to Coles Management.

Can I order this lcd tv on this ozbargain ?

      No.

You actually have to go into a COLES store.

COLES WESTFIELD BONDI JUNCTION (NSW, Postcode: 2022) didn't get any shipment at all.

I have written a letter of complaint to Coles Management. See above.

Have just purchased mxt lcd from coles if your tv will not read disc as per instructions ie disc label to front, try disc label to back. We returned the first one, same problem with the 2nd tried disc facing back and it worked. The picture and options are outstanding. Goodluck

    • I bought mine last night and the DVD worked as described. It played original DVDs, backup DVD-R, and divX on DVD.

  • I am planning on buying this tv tomoro…..does anyone know if the graphics are any good?
I am only going to be using it as a spare tv…..just wondering, is it wall mountable?

  • i did buy this tv today, and it's pretty good!!! Only downer is that it comes with a american plug!! Bit annoying!!!

  • MXT v Kogan PRO19 v bit of Teac LCDV1955HD

Have compared the Kogan and MXT (point of view: 2nd tv for kitchen so going for value proposition, moderate expectations for sound and image)

    • specs are almost identical
EXCEPT: Kogan has SC/MMC card reader, can play DivX from USB
MXT (according to manual) only uses USB for s/w upgrades (though no other description of what s/w can be upgraded), has additional COAX connector (smaller round socket and next to RF; i don't know the usage though)
    • image: on standard image setting: MXT looked bit yellower, Kogan was more neutral white, MXT black was dark, Kogan was brighter; all this can be changed to suit taste
    • sound: Kogan gave fuller, more body to sound, surround sound sounded better, MXT quite tinny, speakers aren't pointing forwards, looks like the sound just comes out of the tv, surround sound not as 'nice' as Kogan, but there is an audio output; again sound can be adjusted to suit
    • weight: Kogan is heavier, looks bigger, nicer in matt black, more stylish; MXT is….what you pay for, light, shiny black plastic surround
    • pixel warranty: Kogan: within first 7 days, 0 dead, 2 stuck; MXT: something like 2 dead, 2 colour, up to 6 (at this point, Kogan gave the better warranty for the first 7 days. But I'm told that if its defective, dead/stuck pixels will be visible immediately and rarely form over time)
    • remote: Kogan's looks nicer (silvery and slim) but longer than 'standard' MXT remote

    why i chose MXT:
    - 1 stuck bright green pixel on Kogan (which was within manufacturer spec but annoying nonetheless). MXT had no stuck/dead pixels. I'm told you can tell immediately you turn on the set and rarely become dead/stuck, so that's the risk I'm taking)
    - $100 less: Kogan $399, MXT: $299 (give or take Kogan delivery charge)
    - 2nd tv that does it all, and MXT does that
    - the tv settings look like the Teac's which I like. CC subtitle font looks nicer than Kogan (minor issue)

1 unknown: not sure about the warranty. A note says call the distributor before returning to Coles. I'm keeping the receipt nevertheless.

    Hope this helps.
