  • Tell me about it. I work for a computer shop that has a similar name and we have been getting calls from angry people wanting to know where there order is… we don't even sell stuff online…

    techshopping.com.au is now suspended…

new website archieelectronics.com.au is based on wordpress… good old wordpress. easy enough to see the sites logo was changed this month. "/2013/05/logo.png"

  • Thanks for posting about this bunch of mongrels. They got my friend a couple of weeks ago for $399.

She has not received her phone, and when she enquired with them they sent her an email saying her item had been shipped, just to stop her hassling them.

Anyone got any further information on this lot?

  • hmm… they look suspended - what do you think they will call the next one???

  • The last lead came from a gumtree listing so I guess we could all keep an eye out for it.

  • I posted to scam watch on Friday about this mob. Hope they get them.

I have a Google Alert for anything mentioning them. (thats how I got onto this thread). As soon as it comes up I will be back onto whoever's hosting to take them down. They stung me for $400 for a camera. I dont forget easily and am on a mission to make is as hard as possible for those bastards to do it again to anyone else.

    Mongrels. :/

    • Same here. I've lost $369.00 for a Samsung Galaxy S3 which doesn't exist. I had a feeling there was something not right with this mob and waited a day to make the payment. I was sent a reminder e-mail the day after placing my order that my payment was due. I ran all the checks I could from their ABN to the company name. It all checked out OK so I sent payment to their bank account.

It appears that the crooks are using genuine and legitimate business details to set up a very real looking website with a non existent company.

I'll be forwarding what I have to NSW police to deal with. My money's gone forever but at least there's a chance that these nimrods will be prosecuted for deception.

  • I wasn't stung but hate that this sh!t is going on and how slow authorities act. (OFT, webhosting companies etc)

Don't just contact the police, use the information from your bank account transaction and contact the National bank UBank centre and give them the account details you paid into.

Also do a report on Scamwatch.com.au and contact fair trading.

I did all these things and the lady at Ubank was great. Contact your own bank with all their details and you may get your ones back.

I have 2 names also. The account name was for a V. Misic and the other person was a Mary Grange

    • Already done. I'll see what happens. I'm not expecting to get my money back but if the crooks can get prosecuted, it might (not necessarily will) prevent others falling victim to these grubs.

      • And if you think your bank will compensate you? Forget it. Once you submit a payment to another person's bank account, you've authorised the payment and your bank will not provide any assistance at all. The only possible way to stop the payment is to contact your bank within a few minutes of making a deposit and your bank can cancel the payment. Once it's in the recipient's account it's gone forever.

        • Further update for anyone scammed by Archie Electronics/Techshopping. You have a slight chance of recovering your money but you must be persistent.

You need to contact your bank and ask the consultant to initiate a funds recall from the grub's U-Bank account. There's a fee involved of around $40.00 to $50.00 but the request will be sent to U-Bank who will make an assessment and decide on whether to refund your money. It takes between 10-15 days but you might get your money back less the funds recall fee which is better than nothing.

          Good luck.

  • im also a victim of archie electronics bought a samsung galaxy note 2 worth $528. that was may 8, 2013, I contacted the bank and report it to the police and just recently my bank which is ANZ send me a letter that the recall of my money is unsuccessful, which is very disappointing.

  • Wow,

I recently saw a nice website with cheap electronics, iPads, iPhones,Samsung Galaxys..

I came to this website through a post on gumtree aswell,

    http://socialcheckin.com.au/welcome

Only mode of contact for them is via 'email', which is very fishy.
Anyways, they had this promotion running for 7 days or so, and no one bought an item possibly.

If anyone is able to do some research or make a connection, would be greatly apperciated.
