  • Thanks Battler!
Just wondering any updated one .
As I know KVB needs certain amount to be free of transition and the one next to it Global Forex (Sydney) Pty Ltd
    isn't there anymore,,,

  • I can't comment on their exchange rate, as I haven't looked into it, but noticed a sign at the post office the other day stating that they do not charge an exchange fee.

  • KVB KUNLUN. good rates. i always get my USD exchanged here. Oh am in melbourne. am sure they have an office in sydney too. just google it

    thanks

  • The post office is your best bet.I have used them several times, and they don't charge anything for the exchange, give a pretty respectable exchange rate and you get the cash 24 hrs later (if you order before 12 midday on a weekday).

  • Anyone know where to get the best rate on Euros & MYR (including the suburbs)for those expenses which don't accept 28 degrees or Citibank Cards

    • NOT in Australia. Just change at the destination.

  • I find American Express gives better rates than the banks, and waive the transaction fee if you are an amex card holder. Plenty of branches: http://www.americanexpress.com/au/content/foreign-exchange/b…

  • Travelex order online and pickup at branches.

  • I agree with peck.

Order online at www.travelex.com.au - make sure you do a Bpay payment to ensure you don't pay any fees.

I've done this several times now and find the rates online are better and you pay no commission! Plus - the pick up location is really convenient for me which is a bonus.

  • Really? Their rates are utter rubbish. e.g They're giving me USD88.5 for AUD100!! You're much better off exchanging in the country you're going to. Or better still just use 28D Mcard. By comparison, today you'll get USD91.7 for AUD100. That's more than 3% difference.

Also the 'No commission' is just a sales gimmick. It's been happening for years, they just factor that into the exchange rate.

    • Sorry I should have said - I find the rates with www.travelex.com.au much better than the rates they offer "in-store".

    • -1

Loiloi and I are talking about where to change money IN SYDNEY, per the topic heading. If you exchange off shore though, you WILL get a better rate. That was not the question. Some people need a bit of foreign currency to kick start their holiday, taxi from the foreign airport to their hotel etc. All airports are bad places for exchange rates, and, as a rule of thumb, I avoid their currency exchange.

    • The dollar might be stronger today in Australia than it will be when you are overseas using your 28* card in the county you're in.

  • There are some small money exchange shops offer pretty good rate, one inside westfield chatswood close to ALDI and another one outside lemon grove. Their rates are slightly better than post office.
KVB still the highest, but very troublesome to go to city.

  • Just ordered through travelex, the rate was 0.0025 better than Post office, make sure to choose the Bpay option to eliminate the 3% fee. Means you have to wait extra couple of days.. but that 3% (ozbargain)is worth it.
