Returning a slow cooker without a receipt - russel hobbs

Hey just wondering if anyone can help me out.

I received this slow cooker as a gift a few months ago, never used it but don't have the receipt.
Any way I could possibly take it back?
Tried Target (who stock it) but they said that russel hobbs is not their own brand so they can't…

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks.

Just re-gift it or use it…shonky takebacks are not cool.

    • It wouldn't necessarily be shonky though…as I could take it back to the right store and it has never been used.

Anyway fair enough, might try here on ozbargain just a very heavy thing to send on ebay.

or ebay.. u r welcome to try ozbargain, but u can only giveaway !

  • Ask the gifter for the receipt? Some shops take it back if it's obviously from them, otherwise it'll be risky for them, as well as losing on profits.

  • Thanks yeah don't think the gifter would be too happy about it. Will have to try second hand.

    • try Myer if there is a store there, it was a while ago, but i've seen refunds given for unwanted gifts

If there nothing wrong with it I don't think you are due a refund.

What's wrong with a slow cooker? They make great curries!

Spot on! Great curries, casseroles, soups, pot roasts etc, etc…

The best part is, you put them on when you leave for work, then come home in the evening to a perfectly cooked meal hot & ready for you.

        dumplings in casserole …homer drool

        • Oh yeah, now that takes me back…

      • Isn't this sort of… dangerous?

  • Haha never been a fan of the whole slow cook process.

It is the easiest way to cook. It makes the cheapest cuts of meat magnificent. Just dump everything in and go.

      • Got any favourite recipes to share? =)

        • i do a lot of normal cooking in them, just reduce the liquid volume to what you need for the process to work. chocolate puddings, potato bakes, lamb shanks. all good. im almost thinking of buying another so i can have 2 going the same time

never been a fan of slow cooked food? you are MISSING OUT :S

  • +1

Did I miss something… you tried to return an item to a store which you have no idea if it was from them or not?….

Apparently he's received it as a gift and doesn't like it/doesn't know how to use it and so he wants some money or wants to exchange it.

Why don't you gift it for a friend or someone special and save some money that way? I hear mother's day is coming up. Give it to charity? Experiment with it? Let it sit there till Christmas comes around again.

  • Go to another target and say you bought it last week and lost the receipt, you should be able to swing store credit at least.

    • Unlikely to work. They're fairly strict on it having to be their own brand, or a receipt.

  • Russel Hobbs, .. Maybe try Harris Scarfe

  • Doesn't hurt to try, just don't blow up if they don't accept the return.
