Let out of contract, now where to go?

Vodafone are allowing me out of contract, after 10 months of 50% off due to lack of data even with full reception.

I can keep my Samsung Galaxy Note for $300 or $0 if I don't want it any more.

I am a little confused as to what to do, I was on a $60 a month plan which included $700 calls and 2GB of data, never got anywhere near that amount, usually $100 in calls and 500MB of data.

What I am trying to figure out is should I keep the phone and pay the $300 or look for something new, and a mobile plan/prepaid that would give me enough calls and data.

Just go onto Prepaid - Boost $40 unlimited+ 3gb data
and still have 20 dollars month*24 ($480) towards a brand new Galaxy Note 4g (kogan $489 delivered currently)

of course you could get other lower priced deals depending on providor and whether you get reception

(woolies mobile 5gb data calls to anyone$250/+ Optus$250 calls)

    send the phone back ;)

    • ewww at Kogan and grey imports, well I've been reading up on warranty stuff where it takes forever to get things done, unlike my current phone which has been back twice now and its usually back within 2 weeks and always a loan phone

    ok go Aldi or Kogan

    • @Aldi/Kogan…try not to go over your allocation then ;)
      (lest you be booted)

  • If you're happy with the phone, consider whether you'll get something comparable for $300.

  • Question, if you keep the phone is it still in warranty? 1 year or 2 year (considering you are out of the contract)?

If the answer is no then buy a new one.

    • I would hope it still had another 12 months warranty, but very good point. A question I shall ask

  • Moved my girlfriend to Boost last week, $40/month for unlimited talk, text, and 3gb data on the Telstra. Full NextG (excluding 4G unlike Kogan/Aldi).

Reception is amazing compared to Amaysim

  • aldi or redbull mobile? $35 / mth, or redbull is cheaper than $30 / mth unlimited for prepay

    • Given that Redbull is Vodafone which is who I am leaving might give them a miss although the plan is a whole lot better than what I was on :)

I dont know many people on Optus as most of my friends are on Vodafone and a handful on Telstra. Is Optus an OK network to be on, I have noticed lots of people resell their network, like TPG…

  • Just to let everyone know that the 24 month warranty on contract phones is voided on cancellation of contract. Just received email confirmation from Vodafone that phones, AU or not are only covered under 12 months manufacturers warranty.
