Go for various credit cards and earn bonus points, e.g. $95 can give you 20,000 points. Is it one of the best ways to amass qantas points? I know it's a hassle to manage various cards, but upon receiving bonus points, we may choose to close credit card accounts.

I agree with this, doesn't look great on your credit file if you are applying for credit cards left, right and centre.
I read this a little while ago which talks about using the system to accumulate points - http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-advisor/travel-hackers-… - too much effort for me though I am afraid.
It will tarnish your credit file applying too many credit cards.
