Chemist Warehouse - We Beat Everyone's Prices --> BS

They only beat other retail pharmacies. Can't beat Woolworths. ????

Today,
bought
Blackmores Odourless Fish Oil 1000mg 400 Capsules for $19.99

http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/product.asp?id=55300&pnam…

found that Woolworths

Blackmores Odourless Fish Oil 1000mg 400pack for $14.49

So, I was told that they couldnt match/beat Woolworths' price. The only thing that I can do at this point is to get a refund, which they did. Went back Woolworths.

Benefit for me? I can keep the 5% cashback - $19.99 —> $0.99.
they refunded to my savings account.

Chemist Warehouse just did the same thing to me. I tried to price match a perfume with mydiscountchemist.com.au who have retail stores and they said the perfume was an "online price" and that their phones are unable to call 1300 numbers wtf?

This was the Fairfield store btw.

Chemist Warehouse are professional scammers. It's like their "50% off prescriptions" ads when there is no set "RRP" to compare to. The ACCC really should do something about it.

I have been known to Price Match the CW price at other Pharmacies…

(Probably drops the GP of the matching pharmacy but helps lift their turnover
and allow them to get better prices off distributors…and give CW some longer term competition)

Not a fan of the way CW have *is this Australias Cheapest Chemist *
with the is this in tiny font compared to the rest of the statement.

    • Wow, I've never seen the is this part before - it's so blurred in the graphic!

As a fellow pharmacist, yeah they're full dodge. Tiny tiny "is this" then AUSTRALIA'S CHEAPEST CHEMIST!!!11ONE

      • Wot?……

Yes refused to price match for me too. I sent email to head office and never got reply. So basically they lie.

  • what's the wording of their price guarantee?

How does the Lowest Price Guaranteed offer work?
At Chemist Warehouse Online Store if you find a cheaper price on the same item at another Australian registered pharmacy or Australian registered online pharmacy we will match it and give you 10% off the difference.

Online would probably be the same as shop front. Sorry I don't have the catalogue with me.

So Woolworths would not qualify as not a 'pharmacy', but I had a cheaper price at another pharmacy, with catalogue as proof, and they were not interested. Told me that the guarantee was only for places like Myer (the product was perfume) and they are cheaper than Myer. Myer also would not qualify as a 'pharmacy', so basically what they told me was rubbish.

My local chemist can price match their presciption items too , all he has to do is log onto their website and check their prices , no need to go all the way to Chemist Warehouse for cheap presciptions . I used to go there , now I just don't bother . I don't know why some people still blindly go there ??

Chemist Warehouse I think bring in a few really good loss leaders and the rest of what they sell is either RRP (or a touch below/above).

Loss leaders go out the front so you get the feeling its a really 'cheap' shop, but when you take a closer look, yep, not cheap at all.

I buy Swisse out of there sometimes, I find they're pretty regular with the discounts there.

      Swisse are rubbish anyway
