FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q - How do Meatcart store prices compare?
A - Almost all of our products work out to be cheaper than regular supermarket pricing. We check pricing regularly to ensure we’re competitive.

Q - What are the quality standards of Meatcart products?
A - Every single product from Meatcart is export quality and produced under export conditions, meaning the quality standards for production are far higher than domestic quality standards. This means that when you order from Meatcart, you are receiving some of the highest quality meat produced in Australia, and at the same time paying prices which are almost always lower than supermarket regular pricing.

Q – Is Meatcart meat, better than most other meat?
A – In a word, yes. The beef (for example) found in supermarkets can be sourced from animals that range in age up to 7-8 years old. All Meatcart beef is derived from animals no older than 18 months. This understandably results in a far better quality meal.
While many bargain butchers will frequently sell meat which is at or past it’s ‘best before’ date, our product is produced to order, and is as fresh as possible.

Q – Why is GST only applied to the delivery and not the product itself?
A – GST does not apply to food, so there’s no requirement to charge for that, but there is a requirement to charge GST on delivery because it is a service.

  • why are your chicken breast prices double that of woolies/coles/other butchers?

    • Hi Gotbean.

We make every attempt to be consistantly cheaper than our counterparts in the supermarket trade, when comparing regular pricing. there will be times however when products offered as store "specials" are used as "lost leaders" (to use a retail term) to entice you into their stores. but with Meatcart you need not even start your car, we bring your purchase to your door ! our products are also made to order, providing you with the freshest products available. if you have any questions please contact me at [email protected]…….cheers

Most people will be able to spend less than $7.15 to go to the local Woolies and odds are they will do a heap of shopping so will need to go anyway

You going to "entice" us to your online store?

        • Hi marchi - The most economical way to have a delivery fee is to have the same fee regardless of where you're located. While I can appreciate your comment, the main enticement is the fact that people can get a higher quality selection of meat, at prices which are on par with supermarket regular pricing with a minimal delivery fee.
It is our quality / price offering which causes many people to become repeat customers.

Typically we find that people will order about 2-3 weeks worth of meat at a time to minimise the impact that the delivery fee has on the total cost.

As an alternative there is a pickup option if the delivery fee is the sticking point for you.

If you are purchasing meat based on price alone however, then it may not be the best option for you.

        • perhaps ozbargain isn't the best place to market, as we tend to purchase things primarily based on price

        • Buying 2-3 weeks worth of meat at a time? So your customers freeze it as soon as they receive it to keep it from spoiling? That kind of negates the advantage of having fresh to order stock.

      • Didn't answer his question…

Chicken at regular price is no more than $10/kg at supermarkets but is $14.70/kg here http://www.meatcart.com.au/our-products/chicken/skinless-bre…

Whole chickens are generally about $5/kg at supermarkets but here is $10.56/kg (http://www.meatcart.com.au/our-products/chicken/whole.html)

I'm struggling to see a bargain here

      • it just says "ozbargain" is not a valid coupon code? i wanted to get 2k as it seems like an ok deal delivered to me. But not without the $10 off coupon?

        • Hi there, there was an issue with the expiry date of that coupon but it's now been fixed so you should be fine to use it now.

I think this is a good idea and service. Prices seem reasonable if it's quality meat. Some more expensive than woolworths, but it's generally worth paying slightly more for quality, if not to support a small business.

    • Yes we agree, generally worth paying a little extra to get great quality food.
