What's the best deal on protein?

    To O.P.
Depends on the brand, type of protein (whey/casein/mix/massgainer) and also if you want to do a protein-per-serve cost type thing.
i.e. BSc Protein (some) are 400 grams, and have like 5 serves. They cost $20 or so.
You could also buy Whey Protein Isolate, which is around 30g per serve, in 2lb containers or more.
General rule of thumb = if it's in lb units, it's most likely made in america/imported from america
if it's in kg, high chance it will be made for AU/NZ.

So to answer your question, depends on the brand and type of protein you're after. Do you really need protein supplements if you want to get big? Not 100% necessary, just helps with recovery time, and as long as you have enough from your diet you don't absolutely need protein supplements.
For Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey (Whey Protein Isolate), I consider $31/2lb(909grams) to be decent, although I do have a friend who can get it slightly cheaper.

You can't go wrong with Optimum Nutrition Gold, but lately me and my brother in law have switched to www.bulknutrients.com.au

They supplements they sell is generic, but gets the job done. The flavours are still fantastic, we especially like the Banana flavour but everyone praises the choc mint. They're also Australian and their service is great

The shipping is super fast as well. Guaranteed next day delivery for orders under 3kg and placed before 3pm.

$99 for a 5kg bag of WPC and $149 for 5kg of WPI.

I think ON is around $85 for 5lb which is around 2.27kg on ebay

Hope this helps :) We bought 10kg and we're still going through the Banana & Strawberry bags. Banana is a much nicer flavour in our opinions

    • Note: WPC is not lactose-intolerant friendly.
WPC and WPI protein content is different (WPC is usually slightly lower, but also cheaper)
I would also go with BulkNutrients if you want something cheap but reliable.
I like my ON gold flavours though (Mocha is unbelievably good!)

  • Thanks for all the suggestions, is it worth waiting for a sale?

    • No. I can get you optimum nutrition gold standard 2lb at $30USD as the bare minimum price though, if you're interested, drop me a PM, it'll take 8 working days or so from payment to your doorstep though (this is through Vitacost)
Sales only happen when you have a high margin on the product. Why wait for Australian prices to be 'on sale' to match everyday American prices for the same product? (Australian stock of an American product is not 'Australian made', you're supporting the middleman profits, not really 'Australian Jobs' per se.)
