        • … thats a good way to put it :[

      • These chargers always quote the 3.7V mAh, but always output 5V. It's normal.

  • Received 1 out of 2 orders today. Fully charged and connected to my NEX camera. It managed to charge the battery from 62% to 87%, a gain of 25%. Since the camera battery is rated as 1080mah and so 25% is 270mah. That is a rather poor capacity.

  • How do you tell if the battery is fully charged or not?

    • Red Led turns to Blue.

      • Cheers mate!

  • Coupon has expired as of 8-6-13.

I just tested mine. It has a capacity of 633mah. This is a joke.

    • that's incredibly low. How did you test it?

  • I just received 2 today that I ordered and both are DOA, they do not charge i.e. the LED doesn't turn on. Looks like these goods are faulty, very disappointed.

    • +1

I recieved mine today and thought it was faulty at first but it's the cable that comes with it thats dodgey, the charger works ok using a better grade usb cable. Mine came packed in a box and wrapped in pleny of bubble wrap, so much that the postie had to deliver it to my door as it wouldn't fit in my letterbox.

  • oh well. even it it charges my phone by a few percent, could save my life one day.

    • who else tried to make an infinite loop by connecting the micro usb back into the device?

        Nobody intelligent.

      • portable heating device

If, as I suspect, these things contain a 18650 cell from a junked laptop, with in some cases little or no remaining capacity and in some a very high build-up of internal resistance as a result - it may do the exact opposite of 'save my life one day'.

  • on the box it says "Do not use instructions may cause a fire"… Er…

Don't do what Donny Don't does..?

  • Does that charging indicator on the unit turn off after a full charge? Mine stays on after a 12 hours charge?

    • should be red when charging, blue when charged. I assume stays blue until disconnected.

I get purple sometimes on one of mine =|

      • Im getting red when charging and after about 2 hours it becomes bright green/yellow?

  • this coupon is still valid.
I received one the other day, tested charging an old HTC phone from approx. 30% to 85% full.
As mention by newfie above, the cable that comes with it is dodgy, can only charge for a short time.
But all good after I use different cable.
    Will order some more now.

  • Received mine yesterday, can charge my galaxy s2 approx from 1% to 40%… may be to 45% if the phone was off.

probably the real cell might look like this ..

    Ahh haaa……. banged good!!!!!!

edit: based on the above calculation it may be ~660mah

Can use as UPS for a Raspberry Pi…

  • How do we know when the battery of this thing is out?

  • Received mine today, is it already fully charged? It charged my Galaxy Nexus from 50 to 72% and stopped. Tried to charge it but already show in blue colour (is that mean still fully charged?)

    Will try difference cable.

    • Changed cable still the same upto like 7x and stopped so not sure whether it is out of battery or not.

Also it won't change to red when charging still blue.

      • Why is everybody getting blue? Anyways mine became yellow/bright green and it charged iphone 4 from 1% to 35%..I'm guessing it stopped charging cos it doesn't go past 35% and it vibrated repeatedly, like a signal telling me it's done?

Pretty disappointed with how much it charged my phone considering how long the external battery itself took ~2 hours to become fully charged.

        • I am wondering whether we should turn off the phone to charge.

          Will try later.

Mine still show blue, anyway to discharge it to test it out?

Shmu, after it stopped charging when you plugged it back in to charge did it changed the colour?

I still don't know whether it is charging or not charging itself.

        • Yes when it stopped charging my phone and I charged the battery again it's red. Maybe after 3 hours of charging the battery you can try using it to charge your phone again? Not sure why it doesn't change the colour for you

  • No Iphone 5 :(

  • I am happy that I missed out twice, it seems too poor quality to put any money in for.

  • Charged my ipod touch from 0% to about 60-70%.
I also tested the output voltage, it's exactly 5V.
Not that bad for $4 I guess..

    • When it stopped charging is it really out of battery or just for some other reason?

Because I cannot tell whether it is out of battery or not.

  • After trying it out for a few days, I found the followings:

You have to charge the battery when arrived, they are not fully charged.

Don't use the usb cable comes with it, use your own a better one.

Also found that with difference model they may show difference colour when fully charged some may turn off when fully charged.

It charged my Galaxy Nexus from 30% to 90% and stopped.

I received mine the other day and ran a test on it.

At both 500 and 800mA discharge currents, the capacity was 889mAh.
For comparison, my Eneloop 2000mAh charger measured at 1405mAh.

Quite disappointing, but for four bucks I'm not too upset.

From the Eneloop measurements it looks like the step-up circuit is about 70% efficient. Taking that into account, the 1200mAh that Jayphen mentioned on the last page sounds correct.

Detailed results if anyone is interested:

  • well at least one of mine seems to have become faulty after using it once.
It has no charge left, and when I plug it in to get charged up. It just glows blue, doesn't turn red to show that its charging :(
I can plug my phone up to it while attempting to charge, that charges the phone. but as soon as i d/c the cable to the battery pack. it stops.

ah well. fun while it lasted. glad i bought a few
