UBank how can I tell if I've received bonus interest rate?

Just looking through by Ubank saver account transactions. I can see that I get interest paid, but nowhere does it say "this is the bonus rate" because I do the $200/month automatic savings plan (ASP). The only way I can check is if I record their standard rates each month, and check each month that the rate they pay me is higher.

Am I wrong? Is there an easier way to check that the bonuses are being paid? Does anyone receive separate notification that there is a 'bonus' interest paid?

Cheers!

  • there should be an entry in your transaction history on the 1st of the month which states what your rate is. it updates to the bonus rate about midday if you are getting the bonus rate.

  • The bonus interest rate is shown on the account details page.

  • Thanks @mattgal. If I look at my transaction history, how would I know if I received the bonus rate for the last few months? I can't remember what their standard rate has been.

    • i imagine if it drops .8% from one month to the next then you are not getting the bonus rate. rba cuts are typically .25%

Had a quick look and I'm pretty sure it's going through OK. I don't know what's brought on all this paranoia; I think the falling Australian dollar is making me feel like there's no money around, and everyone is going to be out to rob me! I need therpay.

  • @Pripswr thanks I found it! So the second line says "bonus interest applied to your account" means that it it actually has been added, I'm assuming. Gah, can't believe the standard interest rate below 4% now. Depressing.

    • rams still have their rate at 5.01%. if it is still that rate after the beginning of the month i might plonk some money into their bank. no withdrawals but …

      • Thanks, I will check it out. I've got so many bank accounts now, one more can't hurt. No withdrawals… should be no problem for a few months; I will just take the whole lot out when I need it, and distribute it to my other accounts. Only problem would be if they require minimum monthly deposit, like Ubank.

Not for long. Dropping to 4.76% apparently - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/104860

        • Ubank currently 4.66, ingdirect 4.75, Rabodirect 4.76. Gah! If Ubank don't move back up next month, I will probably jump ship. There is no benefit in staying with them. I can't stand their website. Plus, they only recently made a mobile site which has intermittent display issues in ios, and it fails at transferring funds between accounts.

  • Worth pointing out that the Ubank IOS app is now out.
I downloaded it and used it. Whilst not perfect, it's a lot easier than trying to use the webpage on safari.
Transfers seem to work OK. Work in progress.
For a first attempt its OK, at least you can now check balance and make payments
