This was a great item when I bought it a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the battery starts to lose its hold and it doesn't work unless its plugged in. Now, even if it is plugged in, it needs to be left alone for some time and then starts to lose charge while being used, only allowing me a few minutes of use before it dies.

I'd be looking for something with a lithium battery, which tends to cost a lot more. Or a permanent corded one to save on hassle

    • I bought one of these a few years back and found it to be absolutely hopeless for shaving me to a 2mm stubble, had a kambrook brand hair trimmer that did a better job for half the price. Others mileage will vary of course and at $48 it's definitely a better buy than when I got it, but I'd agree with gerard and advise going for something with a lithium ion battery for longevity.

If you really want Lithium, check out this:
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Remington-MB4040-Lithium-Ion-Mens…

The Remington beard trimmers get great reviews on amazon.co.uk & amazon.de.
I have the basic model MB-320C and it's very good. Not lithium, but so far hold charge very well, and more importantly cuts very well.

Note that if you buy one from overseas, make sure you get it from Europe/UK and not USA. These things are not dual voltage.

The one listed from ebay is cheaper delivered to Australia than it can be bought in the UK…

      • Purchased mine 4 years ago from Shaver Shop and is multi voltage.
Never used via charging the battery. Always corded. Still going well.

        • Perhaps different variants for USA/no-USA. The questions on this on amazon.com are all answered saying that it's not dual voltage. The charger from my MB-320C is not dual voltage… bought from amazon.de.

    • Exact thing happened to me with the battery and now it lights up but doesn't charge at all. Avoid.

I got this a few years ago too and definetly recommend although like the previous writer I have found the charge doesn't hold as well and only works now whilst plugged in. Still good value at $48

  • I was looking for a trimmer, so I will give this one a crack. Thanks for the heads up!

  • I would stay away from this, battery goes down hill even if you follow their instructions to the letter, very shortly. Never did a great job of trimming either (as compared to the Remington I had before this).

Even though the price sounds OK, knowing the product, I'd not recommend.

  • Does it can be used by just pluged in adapter cable?

    • Yes, it does work while plugged in (mine only works this way).

There have been reports of users having trouble while plugged into A/C though (See Amazon reviews/Whirlpool threads) - came across this while researching the battery issue a fair while ago.

  • I have the i-Trim, while it worked fairly well, I haven't used it since I bought one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Conair-GMT900-iStubble-Facial-Trimmer/…

I found trimming to be noticeably closer and the battery lasts longer on the iStubble. The AC power adapter on mine works on 100-240VAC 50/60Hz.

  • EDIT: This was supposed to be in reply to the comment above about the GMT900.
I have a rebranded one which worked really well till it died 15 months later. Still, mine has a 3-year warranty, so I'll get a repair/replacement. Annoying thing though: every time you switch it on, it resets to the lowest setting, which can catch you out when you're hung over….

  • I haven't heard very good things about the brand VS Sasson.

  • I have one of these and it only works when plugged in. I figured that it was because I took it to Eurpoe and used an adaptor somehow killing the battery, but as many here seem to have the same problem it seems to be a common fault.
