  • Firstly, 'up to 75% off' means diddly squat here as you may as well say up to 99% off…. means nothing. List items and their prices for a price match. Secondly, your reduced prices are similar to that found in Myer anyhow.

Hi Logical, Maxwell & Williams is not a brand that is discounted often. These are genuine discounts off our (and everybody elses) every day rrp.

    • +3

No comment on the prices because I'm not sure, but I see Maxwell & Williams discounted all the time, particularly in Myer.

      • +1

Exactly. All the time @ Myer

        • +1

And at House (well our store anyway). May not be as high as 75% off, though.

    • M&W are often discounted.

Personally I'd suggest goign to kmart for plates, as they're almost identical (we have both) & considerably cheaper. The cutlery is also virtually identical to DJ's own brand.

  • I remember in the past Harris Scarves having massive clearances of M&W at huge discounts. Also stocked in Myer and DJs which regularly discount. Also the prices on website are in the instances I checked, such as East meets West 16pc, no cheaper than other online kitchen stores. This represents a Rep advertising, not a bargain.

"Prices will not be beaten anywhere online"
    Yet compare:

    http://www.kitchenwaredirect.com.au/Tabletop/Dinner-Set-Croc…

    False advertising????

    • Hi Hubbles, thanks for bringing this price difference to our attention. We will match that price straight away. We cannot control what our competitors decide to change their prices to so we are happy to match our prices on any of our Maxwell & Williams sale items that you see for less.

  • quick Google search shows cheaper prices at http://www.kitchenwarehouse.com.au with free delivery. NO DEAL

    • Hi, Kitchen Warehouse offer free delivery for orders over $100 whereas House Online offers free delivery on all orders over $59

  • Thanks - brought plenty….. not just to use the $59 free shipping.

I did a comparison on other specials, not just the Maxwell and Williams stuff.

A quick sample shows that the $39.95 for the 17 piece Carousel Spice rack is virtually half price of everywhere else I looked.

Perhaps some should actually do some research before asking where the bargains are - they are there. OzBargain seems to be proliferating a lot of people who find it easier to be negative than actually look at the detail.

    • I didn't neg because it seemed like there'd be some value there (like you found). I disagree with the claim that Maxwell & Williams is 'rarely on sale' - it seems to be a brand that is specifically marketed to be regularly on special at greatly reduced prices (the opposite of say, Apple products, which never go more than 10% off)

      • I agree. They are always on sale and more often than not, they are on sale at House, Myer and DJ's.

However, the bargains are real and tangible in comparison - that's what OzB is all about.

  • Maxwell & Williams stuff seems to chip and break extremely easily. We were given six mugs for Christmas and they all have chips in them. These are used in exactly the same way, treated the same as other cups that we've had for nearly twenty years, which are not damaged. My wife was given two nice looking Maxwell Williams coffee mugs for her birthday and the handles both fell off within a month.

Another two friends bought sets of MW crockery for their weddings and every single piece had chips in them after three months. They're both back to using their original no-name brands which have lasted years without incident.

It's cheaply made, poor quality, not even a bargain on sale. We have cheap Target/K Mart crockery in the garage that's copped ten times the abuse but lasted twenty times as long.

I'm not saying we throw our stuff around or anything, just pouring hot water into the mugs can crack the handles. That's not good!
