Most things Amazon won't deliver to my address

Just wondering if I am missing on something. Most things I want to buy through Amazon.com get to the checkout and then I'm informed that they cannot deliver most of the items to my street address in Melbourne. I have tried a few other addresses with the same issue.

I realise that I could have it delivered to a USA address and then get it shipped here, however that seems to be an expensive option… unless I'm missing something.

Any advice on what others do? Thanks in advance.

well its amazon.com not amazon.com.au for a reason.

www.amazonglobal.com sets up the search box to restrict to items with international shipping. Failing that, use an assisted purchase agency like PriceUSA or ShipItTo?

I used to go to this webpage but find that there are still few items that are not on this page that can still be bought and sipped to Australia from main Amazon.com page.

    • Thanks LiamF,
I tried what you said with amazonglobal and the same problem applies… ie the following response.

"We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order."

  • I've found the same thing, will not ship to your address, Mildura.
The American site had the items I wanted to purchase not the Australian site.
In the end I purchased items cheaper on EBay, you loose again Amazon!

  • How is myUs? They still offer a deal with cheaper shipping for Amex holders.

  • As a general rule, items sold and fulfilled by Amazon are more likely to ship to AU, those sold on Amazon marketplace by others rarely ship to AU economically.

Make sure you log in first.

If you're shopping watches for example, search for watches, then on the items page, there is a box "Amazon Global Eligible", tick that box and all items that can be shipped to Australia will be filtered. After that, on the "Sellers" box, click Amazon.com - so all items that are sold and shipped by Amazon are filtered.

mskeggs is 99% correct, though Levi's and Seikos cannot be shipped even if sold and shipped by Amazon from experience

  • amazon.de and amazon.co.uk might give you some relief on some items; for example Nikon gear cannot be sent from amazon.com, but can be sent from amazon.co.uk.

The prices can differ though; the US is usually cheaper but keep in mind that when shopping from amazon.co.uk and amazon.de that the tax is deducted when you check out. For some items the UK site or DE site is cheaper, particulalry if the product is from an EU company.

    • Also with amazon.uk, you get 17% off (VAT) in the final purchase price when shipping to Australia. I've found this works out to be much cheaper than ebay - specially for electronics.
