Cleaning white headphones that are yellowing

I have these headphones (http://www.marshallheadphones.com/product/minor-white) and they are starting to go a bit yellow. :( Has anyone successfully been able to clean yellowing white products? I think it's actually the material and not just simply dirt. It's starting to happen to my iPad case as well.

The ultraviolet stabilisers in the plastic have been consumed or have migrated to the surface of the earphones and have been rubbed off. The phenols in the plastic, designed to delay the onset of the natural degradation of the plastic through oxidisation, turn yellow in the absence of the UV stabilisers, when exposed to UV radiation. The yellowing cannot be reversed. All you can do now is apply a coating (e.g. paint) to hide the yellow, which may result in something that looks worse than the yellowing itself.

Retr0bright does the trick. Be very careful about mixing your own chems though..

  • Who really cares?
Just use them until they eventually break.
