240

Simply call the local number using any phone (there's one for every state) and select the destination you wish to call. Calls will be routed through Skype's system at Skype's normal rate. No computer or Internet access needed.

Skype to Go used to be a product that only Skype Pro subscriptions had access to but they have recently opened access to all paying (those who have used SkypeOut to call numbers) users of Skype. Go into your account setup and they will tell you (via SMS and website) the local number to call.

Useful service for those who get free local calls or those at work.

Skype's rates in AUD,
2.7¢/min to most of the world (US,UK,NZ,AUD etc.)
26.4¢/min to Australian mobile phones

  • Nice. I was looking at it the other day and the unlimited local call option (~AUD$7.85/month) looks good if you does quite a lot of local calls (> 100 if you use 8c/call from PennyTel).

  • Are the international calls free?

    • No, its about 3 cents a minute. Read above description.

  • Not cheap compare other Voip providers…

    • You're missing the point of this Blinda… you don't even have to have a VOIP box for this to work for you - hence why it is really a bargain!

      • Not true. To use voip provider who got things like this (pennytel ANI/MNF global access), you dont need voip box (or internet at home) and they charge cheaper then skype's 3cents a min (like MNF 1.9c/min). But where skype scores is, it got local access number at more places globally.

Some countries cost a little more than that.

The main benefit that got me interested is that I can use my mobile to make free local calls (as part of my capped plan), then pay Skype for the international part. This would be more practical than VoIP 'cause I can use it away from home. Hope that makes sense.

Most local voip provides got similar options to use away from home. Like mynetfone global access - https://www.mynetfone.com.au/support/faq/service-features/gl…

      • Cool, thanks mawinmawin. They have similar rates to Skype, just more flexible (since I have a VoIP ATA device sitting here idle)

        • You might check pennytel as well.

    • Make sure you won't be charged by your telco first.

Just before Christmas… "Optus customers received an SMS informing them that calling certain Australian mobile numbers would now be charged at international rates.

“All calls that re-route or divert to international numbers are charged at 29c per min + 27c flagfall," the text message read.

  • Now only if Skype had a number for each of the networks, Vodafone, Three, Optus etc… that way you'd get to use the real free network-to-network calls and then just pay 2.7cents per minute for calls. How awesome would that be.

    Misleading

Call Any Number (International, Mobile Phones) at Cost of Local Call

I pay fix price on my local calls from Telstra - not per min!

There wasn't enough room in the title to complete sentence but if you read the description its explained that there is a per minute rate. So local call cost + skype per minute rate.

  • Nice, but if you're on 3 you can enable international calling and call overseas as part of your cap (free).

  • in what countries are the Skype access #s
the same as your Skype to go callin #
or the same as your Skype to go subscription Countries #
